Beijing Science Center for Human and Animal Environmental Protection is a public welfare private non-enterprise unit founded by Ms. Zhang Luping and approved by Beijing Civil Affairs Bureau. It is a comprehensive science popularization entity integrating animal protection publicity and education, animal rescue and treatment. It is the only non-profit folk animal shelter and protection institution approved by the government in China.

I. Introduction of the Center

Beijing Science Center for Human and Animal Environmental Protection is located in Xiaotangshan Town, Changping District, covering an area of about 25,000 square meters and a building area of about 2,000 square meters. Among them, there are 3 kennels 10, cat houses 1, poultry houses and 2 sick and wounded isolation areas, which can accommodate more than 500 animals. There are publicity classrooms, offices, animal treatment centers and other facilities. The center was established in 1997, located in Mentougou mountain area, and moved to its current site on April 28th, 2006.

Second, the development process of the center

Beijing Science Center for Human and Animal Environmental Protection was founded by Ms. Zhang Luping after ten years of hard work. It has gone through four stages: from scratch and from small to large.

The first stage: Zhang Luping used his office and his own house to house the rescued animals.

The second stage: with the increase of rescued small animals, Zhang keeps moving. Finally, she had to live in the countryside and spent two years in He Shili Farmhouse and Daxing Rural Warehouse respectively.

Stage III: In order to create a relatively stable environment for the rescue work stipulated by the municipal government, Zhang Luping established the Beijing Human and Animal Environment Education Center at 1997, and rebuilt a dilapidated barracks where troops were idle in Mentougou Mountain area. From then on, the small animals and Zhang Luping walked into the ravine together.

The fourth stage: due to the inconvenient transportation in Mentougou mountain area, water shortage all the year round and difficult supply, especially the center can not play the role of publicity and education. In 200 1 year, Zhang Luping made up his mind to invest all his remaining property. Under the great pressure of debt, he built a new base in Xiaotangshan, and the human and animal environmental education center was renamed as the human and animal environmental protection science center.

With the improvement and enrichment of people's living standards, more and more families keep pets. However, the scientific knowledge of raising and protecting small animals has not been popularized as it should be, and the phenomenon of abusing and abandoning small animals exists in large numbers. The publicity and education of small animal protection is becoming more and more important. As the only non-profit folk animal protection institution in Beijing and even the whole country, the center is facing greater challenges and responsibilities. With the care and support of all walks of life, the center hopes that in addition to adopting and rescuing abandoned and abused small animals, it will also carry out more animal environmental education activities, so that the concept of animal protection will be deeply rooted in people's hearts and create a safe and harmonious living environment for animals.

The purpose of the center is to raise people's awareness of animal protection and realize the harmonious coexistence between people and animals through the protection and rescue of small animals and publicity and education activities. The basic functions of the center:

1, rescue, treatment and care of small animals

The basic function of the center is to provide or find a more suitable living space for small animals in trouble through rescue and care. The base will try its best to provide rescue, treatment and care for abandoned and homeless animals, sterilize, vaccinate and treat animals regularly, and help animals find adoptive owners and new homes.

2. Publicity, education and training

By holding lectures, setting up publicity panels, setting up columns in the media and holding special events, the center carries out publicity and education activities on animal protection awareness and scientific feeding knowledge for the public, so that people can establish environmental awareness of protecting nature, caring for animals and respecting life, and practice it to create a safe and peaceful living space and atmosphere for animal survival.

3. Raise funds for animal protection.

Relying on the base and under the supervision of authoritative departments, the center raises funds for animal protection and makes effective use of these funds to support the development of animal protection.

Over the past few years, with the unremitting efforts of Ms. Zhang Luping, the attention of people from all walks of life and the support of government departments, the center has taken in and rescued more than 400 abused and abandoned small animals, and the number of employees in the base has grown to more than 20, who take care of small animals. Ms. Zhang Luping personally gave lectures in many colleges and universities to spread the ideas and knowledge of animal protection. The concept of small animal protection has been understood and supported by more and more people.

In the past ten years, Zhang Luping has rescued more than 400 small animals, sterilized and vaccinated them, and carried out daily care and treatment. These animals have had tragic experiences, and some of them have been ignored by road accidents; Some were abandoned by trash cans, making a living by picking up garbage, and their bodies were covered with parasites; Some people were brutally gouged out, and what's more, after being rescued, they were waiting to be skinned and eaten. Thanks to the careful treatment and rescue of Zhang Luping and her staff, they all stayed away from panic and disaster and gained spiritual comfort. Some of them have been adopted by people who love animals and found happy homes.

2. Actively participate in the propaganda work of animal protection.

Ms. Zhang Luping believes that animal protection is a huge and magnificent project, which cannot be completed by just a few people. Only by mobilizing the whole society to participate, constantly enhancing people's awareness of animal protection, improving people's quality of animal protection, and making animal protection work become people's conscious behavior, can we really do this work well. To this end, she led the center staff and a large number of volunteers to actively participate in various social animal protection publicity activities and strive to play its due role in the progress of animal protection. On the basis of widely soliciting opinions from the masses, she has participated in discussions on animal protection regulations organized by relevant departments for many times and actively offered suggestions for the government's animal protection work. Ms. Zhang Luping has been interviewed by domestic and foreign media for many times to publicize animal protection, which has achieved good social effects. With the continuous improvement of the base, in order to educate more visitors, the center designed and produced its own animal protection exhibition board, with the content of promoting the concept of animal protection for visitors to read. The center received thousands of Chinese and foreign students, who donated money and materials for small animals and painted on the wall of the base with brushes to show their love for animals.

Since the establishment of the center, France's Thirty Million, American Dog World, British Guardian, American CNN, National Geographic Channel, Asian news agency Singapore TV, Associated Press, DPA, as well as domestic CCTV's Half the Sky, True Feelings Unlimited, Greenland, Dialogue with Overseas Centers, Beijing TV Special Concern and People's Daily Overseas Edition.

Ms. Zhang Luping also actively participated in international animal exchange activities, learned advanced animal protection concepts and experiences in the world, and showed the world China people's own animal protection awareness and actions. The center's behavior has been strongly supported by the American International Animal Welfare Foundation and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and has established a good cooperative relationship.
