1, break the dragon to complete the small silk hole.
-A story about water [grins]
? The Duan Long Primary School where I teach this time is the central primary school in Duanlong Town, which is similar to ours. Because of the state's educational support for poor areas, the hardware looks good. There is a newly-built teaching building with multimedia teaching equipment in the classroom. Each floor is also equipped with a public toilet, which is similar to the toilet in our school. There is a long squat pit on the wall, a mop basin and two washbasins outside. However, unlike ours, there is no water in the squat water tank! ! !
? This toilet was built as standard, but the local water resources were too scarce, so it was actually not used. The real toilet in the school is the local dry toilet. The so-called dry toilet is a common pit in the countryside when we were young. All the excrement accumulates over time, and all kinds of mosquitoes breed, including rats.
? When we arrived, there were spiders in every hole of the squat pit because of the holiday for more than a month? Netting is a secret, so our children call going to the toilet a "silk hole" [covering their faces]
? Many of us, including myself, can stand it because it is too horrible to watch and smells too stiff. My physical habits there are completely out of order. I get up every day without going to the toilet. I have to pee in the afternoon and go to the toilet twice a day. After staying there for nearly seven days, I felt very happy sitting on the toilet. [rustic laughter]
2. Break the dragon and complete the small dish washing line.
-Another story about water [rustic laughter]
? There is a long sink in the school canteen with three faucets on it, but no water comes out. The water used in the canteen is connected to the large reservoir outside with a plastic water pipe about 3 cm thick. Every time the water comes out, you need to start the water pump. The water pipe is connected to a large plastic water tank in the kitchen (Figure 3) to store clean water. Because the water pump switch is not in the kitchen, it is convenient to run around every time you use it. Moreover, the crude water output of the water pipe is too large, and washing things with running water is easy to splash and waste water. So these days, before washing vegetables and dishes, we all use various pots and barrels to receive water, which is not only in line with my usual water habits, but also conducive to the recycling of water resources.
? After each meal, the children take turns to help wash the dishes. My job is to arrange an efficient and reasonable assembly line: the children in the first position (one or two) brush off oil stains and residues with detergent, and then drink it for the first time, the children in the second position drink it for the second time, and the children in the third position drink it for the third time. Put the washed tableware in a clean container and then put it in the designated place. After washing all the dishes at each meal, except for the first time, the water will be poured out immediately to wash the sink, and the last two times will not be poured for the time being. Usually, the second water is used to scrub the dishcloth, wipe the dining table, chopping board and stove by the way, and then rinse the sink and sometimes the drain pipe for the second time; Scoop out one-third of the water with a large ladle and wipe the rag again. Finally, wash the sink again, and the remaining water will be temporarily used to wash vegetables and dishes for the next meal.
? Children in the city love cleanliness and wash their hands frequently. Every time a child runs into the kitchen and asks me to take a spoonful of water to help them wash their hands, I will ask them to reach into which basin to catch the running water and reuse it. Every time I ask the water to be recycled as much as possible, I will tell the children to save water whenever I have the chance! Save water! ! Save water! ! !
3. Break the dragon and finish the small bathtub
-The third story about water [naughty]
? Although I was told during the interview that the local water resources were scarce, it was difficult to take a bath. Before I left, I heard Mr. Xia, who personally led the team, say that Tin Muk wanted to take a bath, and I felt a little square [covering my face]. But on second thought, last year's teaching should pass. Besides, everyone is the same. Anyway, I'm not the only one who stinks [giggles].
? On the day we arrived at school, a complete primary school teacher received us and asked us to hand over some things. When I heard the teacher pointing to the big reservoir and saying, "There has been a lot of precipitation recently, and this reservoir is full, it should be enough for you these days", I suddenly felt a lot more relaxed. Indeed, it rained heavily just before we set off. But even so, I still dare not let go. On the first day, everyone really didn't take a shower.
? By the next night, many children, especially boys, had begun to see white sweat stains on their black T-shirts, just like wavy lines. Walking past them is sweet and sour sweat. Several children with sensitive skin began to have different degrees of sweat rash, such as neck, arms, inner thighs, waist and back. I also have a small red rash on my neck. Later, after discussing with the summer teacher, Jane Eyre decided to arrange for everyone to take turns taking a bath. The girl borrowed the small bathroom in the teacher's dormitory, and the boy was in the kitchen. Everyone is limited to one bucket of water, that is, the lead bucket below, which is quickly heated. So everyone feels extremely happy!
? This week we are in, the rain is really abundant, and there are showers every day on average. So, in the next few days, we just boiled water and took a simple bath every other day, taking a total of three baths. Later, I communicated with my daughter and learned that she was in Hongshilin campus, so I arranged a bath together. Just once, she didn't wash it because of the inconvenience of the cycle. So she really didn't take a shower for six days and wore the same pair of sweatpants for five days. It seems that the ability to adapt to the environment is very good!
? I feel very happy every time I go home after teaching. When I wash my hair, I also turn off the tap and stop the running water. My daughter also said that if I don't take a shower for six days and wear the same pair of pants for five days in a row, I don't think anything can beat me anymore.
? This kind of teaching, coming to such a place with relatively poor materials and relatively difficult conditions, is first and foremost a process of learning from hardships for ourselves. From "you" to "nothing" and then back to "you", you will cherish this "you" that you have long been used to. This is the first meaning that this kind of teaching brings to children.
