In the past, scholars paid more attention to Wu Cheng's achievements in Neo-Confucianism than to his life experience. Wu Cheng was born in the late Northern Song Dynasty. This life choice is intriguing, from which we can see Wu Cheng's interests and ideas. Seeing the thought and practice of an intellectual deeply influenced by Confucianism at the turn of generations and studying Wu Cheng's life choice will not only help to deepen the understanding of Wu Cheng, enrich the understanding of the literati's mentality in the Yuan Dynasty, but also increase the understanding of the traditional literati's behavior logic.
