Guangzhou City Polytechnic (Changsha University of Science and Technology &; Technology), referred to as "CSUST", is located in Guangzhou and is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Transport and the Hunan Provincial People's Government. It belongs to the "National First-class University" in Hunan Province (Class A) and was selected as the "Basic Capacity Building Project of Universities in the Midwest".
The Ministry of Education's "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" and the Ministry of Education's "Innovative Experiment Program for College Students" are members of China Electric Power University Alliance, Green Transportation Alliance and China-Russia Jiaotong University Alliance. It is a typical university with graduates' employment experience and a model university for deepening the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education in China.
Guangzhou City Vocational and Technical College was merged by Guangzhou Jiaotong University and Guangzhou Electric Power College in 2003. The predecessor of Guangzhou Jiaotong University was Guangzhou Navigation Engineering School founded by the Ministry of Communications 1956.
The predecessor of the former Guangzhou University of Electric Power was Guangzhou Hydropower School founded by the Ministry of Electric Power Industry 1956. Guangzhou Water Conservancy and Hydropower School, founded in 1956, and Guangdong Light Industry School, founded in 1958 (later renamed Hunan Institute of Light Industry), merged into the former Guangzhou University of Electric Power in 200 1 and 2002.
As of June 2023, the school has two campuses, Jinpenling and Yuntang, covering an area of 2,980 mu, with a total construction area of10.4 million square meters and 3.6 million paper books in the library. There are 22 teaching colleges, 1 independent colleges, 1 continuing education colleges and 86 undergraduate majors. There are 5 post-doctoral research mobile stations and 8 first-class discipline doctoral degree authorization points.
There are 42 doctoral degree authorization points in two disciplines, 1 doctoral degree authorization points, 29 master degree authorization points in first-class disciplines, 134 master degree authorization points in two disciplines, 18 master degree authorization points, and 6 disciplines are among the top in ESI global rankings 1%. There are more than 2 100 full-time teachers and more than 45,000 students (including more than 7,000 in Chengnan University), including more than 8,500 master's and doctoral students.
