Le 'an has a long history, belonging to Wu in the Spring and Autumn Period, Yue in the early Warring States Period, Chu in the Zhou Dynasty, Jiujiang County in the Qin Dynasty, Nancheng County in the Western Han Dynasty, Linru County in the Eastern Han Dynasty, Linchuan County in the Three Kingdoms Period and Chongren County in the Sui Dynasty.
In the 19th year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1 149), two counties, Chongren and Yongfeng, established Le 'an County, which governed Tianshou, Le 'an, Zhongyi and Yungai, and was named after Le 'an Township, and belonged to Fuzhou. Yuan belongs to Fuzhou Road, and Ming and Qing belong to Fuzhou Prefecture. During the Republic of China, it was subordinate to Yuzhang Road and the Seventh Administrative Region. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, it has been under the jurisdiction of Fuzhou College (region) and Fuzhou City.
