Students who have been absent from school for four weeks without reason and have been repeatedly contacted and mobilized by the school to return to school are deemed to have dropped out of school. Schools should promptly report students' dropout to local township people's governments (street offices), county-level education administrative departments and school registration departments according to law, and cooperate with local township people's governments (street offices) to mobilize them to return to school according to law. The education administrative department of the school will reserve the student status for them during the compulsory education period and use the student status system for management.

In the compulsory education stage, if the children of migrant workers drop out of school, the school registration department shall hand over the school registration file to the education administrative department of the county (district) where their household registration is located at the end of each semester.
