Sun Moon Lake

Located in Shuishe Village, Yuchi Township, Nantou County, it is the only natural lake in Taiwan Province Province, which is formed by accumulated water in the fault basin between Yushan and Alishan. The lake is 760 meters above sea level, with an area of about 9 square kilometers, an average water depth of 30 meters and a circumference of about 35 kilometers. Sun Moon Lake is surrounded by mountains, surrounded by mountains and waters. The lake is crystal clear, vast and picturesque. Whenever the sun sets and the new moon rises, the sunlight and the moon shadow set each other off, which is more elegant, quiet and poetic. There is an island in Sun Moon Lake, which looks like a bead floating on the water from a distance. Its name is Zhu Ziyu (Guanghua Island). Taking this island as the boundary, the northern half lake looks like a full moon and the southern half lake looks like a crescent moon, hence the name Sun Moon Lake.

Sun Moon Lake used to be called Shuishalian, Shuishe Great Lake, Longhu and Zhutan, and the locals also called Shuishe. In the famous lakes of the motherland, there is a unique subtropical beauty, and every storm contains the beauty of nature. The water in the pool is inexhaustible, the water is extremely clear, and the endless green waves are like mirrors, reflecting the green hills and tranquility. In the morning, there is often fog as thin as a veil in the mountains and pools. Coupled with the mountain wind, smoke hides Guanghua Island, and the lake is foggy.

The original area of Guanghua Island in the center of the lake is 8 hectares, and hydropower projects are built at the foothills of 193 1. 1934 after the completion of the first power station, the water level of the lake rose sharply, reducing Guanghua Island to 1 hectare. Guanghua Island is square with pebbles at the bottom. There are many cypresses on the island, which look like a green pearl from a distance. There are also several medicinal trees. The "Jade Island Shrine" on the island sits west to east, with two square doors in front and a "Jade Island Temple Monument", which records the construction date and process in detail.

There are many places of interest in the mountains around Sun Moon Lake, including Wu Wen Temple, Xuanguang Temple, Hanbilou, Cienta and Peacock Garden. Wu Wen Temple is built on the hillside north of Tantan, and the cruise ship is moored at the edge of the foothills, which can only be reached along the 365 stone steps. The word "Wu Wen Temple" is written on the marble archway, and the words "Chongwen" and "Chongwu" are written on the left and right respectively. Confucius Temple is dedicated to Confucius, and Wu Temple is dedicated to Confucius. On the roof of Wuwen Temple, you can overlook the whole swimming pool. There is a peacock garden in the southeast of Wuwen Temple, which is the breeding base of peacocks in Taiwan Province Province. Peacocks in the garden can dance, open their screens and salute after training. On the south side of Sun Moon Lake is Qinglong Mountain, 950 meters above sea level. Xuanguang Temple at the foot of the mountain is dedicated to the full-length statue of Master Xuanzang, a monk in the Tang Dynasty. There are too many "national wizards" in the temple. Climb the 1300 stone steps from the back of Xuanguang Temple and reach Xuanzang Temple. The temple was built in 1952, and the remains of Master Xuanzang are stored in the temple. On the top of the hill behind Xuanzang Temple, there is a 45-meter-high Ci 'en Pagoda, which is a pagoda in China. Hanbi Building is located on the hillside northwest of Sun Moon Lake. It used to be the guest house of Taiwan provincial government, but now it is a first-class western-style hotel, quiet and elegant. There are two tall coconut trees in front of the door, which grow through the balcony on the first floor. They are very interesting. Standing on the platform at the top of Hanbi Building, you can see the lake, bamboo, white clouds and boats.
