Chengdu University of Arts and Science was founded in 1999, formerly known as Sichuan Normal University School of Cultural Communication and International Business School (non-internal secondary college). Established in 2004 and approved by the Ministry of Education, it was established as an independent college of arts and sciences of Sichuan Normal University. In 20 14, it was transferred to Chengdu University of Arts and Sciences (an independent undergraduate college) with the approval of the Ministry of Education.
