Due to its outstanding achievements in running a school, the school was awarded the title of "civilized campus" by the provincial government in 2003 and "advanced unit for running a school according to law" by the provincial party committee. In April 2004, the extension project of Xunyang Middle School determined by the county government officially started. In June, 2005, the government of Xunyang officially approved the detailed planning scheme of Xunyang Middle School. According to the plan, the school will build a 3,000-square-meter library, a 300-meter circular plastic track playground and a 4,000-square-meter gymnasium in recent years. After the expansion, the total campus area will reach 67.2 mu, with an estimated total investment of more than 60 million yuan.
