general situation

First, the basic situation of law school and its development in recent years

The Law School was founded in 1985, formerly known as the Law Department of Gansu University of Political Science and Law. In May, 20001,in order to meet the needs of school development, the school established a law school on the basis of the original law department and economic law department.

The college has two undergraduate majors: law and social work, with a total of 2269 full-time undergraduates, including 2094 law majors and 175 social work majors.

In recent years, the law school has strictly followed the guiding ideology of the school and made great progress in various undertakings under the correct leadership of the school:

(1) Breakthrough progress has been made in the construction of master's programs and key disciplines.

Under the unified arrangement of the school, at the beginning of this year, all faculty members of the law school strived to win the right to confer master's degrees in five disciplines: Constitution and administrative law, criminal law, civil and commercial law, economic law and procedural law, and achieved a major breakthrough in the construction of master's degree programs. Law school has built 1 provincial key disciplines-civil and commercial law, and 5 school-level key disciplines-civil and commercial law, economic law, procedural law, constitution and administrative law, and criminal law.

(2) The construction of teaching staff has achieved remarkable results.

With the support of the school, the law school strengthens the construction of teaching staff in quantity and quality through introduction, further study, training and academic exchange. In 2003, there were 92 teachers in law school, and in 2006, there were 1 14 teachers. There were 34 professors and associate professors in 2003 and 44 in 2006. In 2003, there were 29 teachers with master's and doctoral degrees, and in 2006, there were 54 teachers. The increase in the number of teachers and the continuous improvement of their quality ensure the healthy development of teaching and scientific research.

Law schools attach importance to academic exchanges with foreign countries. Since 2003, it has held five national legal academic conferences. According to the recent notice of china law society Criminal Procedure Law Research Association, our hospital will also host the 2007 annual meeting of china law society Criminal Procedure Law Research Association. While "please come in", we also insist on "going out" and send a large number of teachers to participate in various national academic conferences every year. In 2004, 2005 and 2006, more than 70 teachers went out to participate in academic exchanges.

(4) The level of scientific research achievements has been continuously improved, and its influence has been continuously expanded.

Since 2004, law school teachers have received 2 projects from the National Social Science Fund, 1 project from the Ministry of Justice 1, 1 project from the Ministry of Education 1, and nearly 30 other provincial and ministerial scientific research projects. In recent years, law school teachers have published nearly 40 papers in law core journals such as China Law and Forum on Politics and Law. He has published nearly 30 books and textbooks in Law Press and Lanzhou University Press. Won 15 provincial and ministerial awards. The level of scientific research achievements of law school teachers and their influence in the whole country are constantly expanding.

(E) distinctive features of running a school

In the course of running a school for many years, our school has formed the school-running characteristics of "giving full play to the advantages of disciplines and actively serving the construction of local rule of law", which is mainly formed by relying on the law school. Nearly 50% of law school teachers are employed by state organs and various social organizations, and the vast majority of graduates are employed at the grassroots level. The Law School was also designated as the "Research Base of Local Legislation in Gansu Province" by the Standing Committee of Gansu Provincial People's Congress, and 14 teachers were hired as invited researchers of local legislation of Gansu Provincial People's Congress. The social service activities for teachers and students at the grassroots and local levels have achieved remarkable results.

Through our continuous exploration and comparison, the development goal of law school is determined, that is, after several years of construction, law school will be developed into an important and distinctive undergraduate and postgraduate education base in China, and law school will enter the ranks of mainstream law schools in China.

Second, the main work and achievements of law school in undergraduate teaching

In recent years, the law school has done a lot of fruitful work around the evaluation of undergraduate teaching level under the unified arrangement of the school and combined with its own characteristics and advantages.

(1) Take various measures to strengthen the construction of dominant majors and actively carry out the construction of social work majors.

In recent years, in order to strengthen the construction of law specialty, the law school revised and adjusted the professional teaching plan and talent training plan in 2005 and 2006 respectively, and compiled the teaching syllabus of law specialty courses; Two provincial-level excellent courses, three school-level excellent courses and nine school-level key courses, such as civil law and constitutional law, were built, and 35 provincial-level and school-level excellent teaching achievement awards and excellent teaching awards were won. At present, undergraduate law major has become the dominant undergraduate law major in Gansu province and even in Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia and Xinjiang. At the same time, it has become an important basic specialty of public safety, management and political science in our school.

While strengthening the construction of dominant majors, law schools are also actively building new social work majors from the aspects of enriching teachers, perfecting professional teaching plans and syllabuses, and strengthening laboratory construction. At present, the number of social work teachers has increased to 8, the teaching plan and syllabus have been improved day by day, and the social work laboratory has been built and put into use.

(two) constantly improve the teaching rules and regulations and teaching quality monitoring system, standardize teaching activities, improve teaching quality.

In the past two years, the law school has formulated 14 teaching rules and regulations in combination with professional characteristics. Through the formulation and implementation of teaching rules and regulations, the teaching quality monitoring system has been improved. (For example, the Measures for the Construction and Use of Law School Question Bank, Law School Teachers' Marking Standards, Law School Students' Marking Standards, etc., which are formulated in combination with their own reality, have improved the examination and assessment system and made the examination and assessment more fair, which is generally welcomed by teachers and students. Another example is to strengthen the supervision of teachers' classroom teaching through the Measures for Evaluating Teaching by Law School Students and the Measures for Evaluating Teaching by Law School Leaders. By strictly implementing the teaching rules and regulations, improving the teaching quality monitoring system, the teaching behavior of law school teachers is standardized, and the teaching order and effect are good.

According to the statistics of online teaching evaluation in 2004-2005, 30% of teachers in our college are excellent, 64% are good and 6% are qualified. From 2005 to 2006, 58% were excellent, 465,438+0% were good and 65,438+0% were qualified.

(3) Strengthen the practice teaching to improve students' practical ability.

Law school attaches great importance to improving students' basic skills through practical teaching. The main contents of practical teaching in our college include the following aspects:

1. Professional practice and training: the practice content, plan and organizational arrangement of law school are clearly defined. In order to strengthen the practice, the law school has successively negotiated with the people's court of Chengguan District of Lanzhou City and other political and legal organs to establish the 12 practice base, which ensures the normal practice of professional practice. At the same time, we have built training bases on campus, such as mock trial, to improve students' practical ability through training activities such as mock trial and observing trial. In recent years, there have been more than 40 mock trials and observation trials 12.

2. Graduation thesis: The Law School has formulated detailed guidance rules and specification requirements for graduation thesis, and selected serious and responsible and experienced teachers to guide graduation thesis. In 2006, all undergraduate thesis defense was realized, and the quality of graduation thesis was greatly improved compared with previous years.

(d) Conducting various academic activities, such as "lectures on legal teaching", and promoting teaching through academic activities.

Since April 2005, the Law School has carried out a series of academic activities centered on "Faming Lecture Hall", and invited famous experts and scholars from home and abroad, as well as staff of judicial practice departments to give academic lectures. This activity has had a great impact on the whole school and even the universities in Gansu Province. Over the past year and a half, more than 60 series of academic activities have been held, including Faming lectures, alumni forums, lawyers' forums, judges' forums and prosecutors' forums. Wang, Wu,,, Jiang Wei, Zhu Ciyun, and many other well-known domestic scholars and business backbones of judicial practice departments teach in law schools. When adjusting the teaching plan in 2006, we summed up our experience and set up practical courses such as lawyers' forum, judges' forum and prosecutors' forum to institutionalize and standardize this activity.

(6) Take various measures to pay close attention to the construction of study style, so as to provide guarantee for improving the quality of undergraduate teaching.

1. Strengthen the construction of study style through various forms of ideological and political work. (7) The employment situation of law school graduates is good.

1. The students have a solid professional foundation and a strong spirit of hardship. They can take root at the grassroots level and adapt to the needs of grassroots work, which has been well received by employers.

2. The employment situation of students is good, and the employment rate of undergraduate graduates in 2005 is nearly 90% at the end of the year. Gansu University of Political Science and Law Public Security Branch was formerly the Public Security Department of Gansu University of Political Science and Law. It was first established in 1989. 1September, 1996, with the approval of the Ministry of Public Security, the provincial government approved the establishment, which was jointly led by the Gansu Provincial Public Security Department and Gansu University of Political Science and Law.

The Public Security Bureau consists of five management organizations: the Party and Government Office, the Academic Affairs Office, the Student Affairs Office, the reformed student management office and the Youth League Committee. There are two research institutions, namely, Material Evidence Technology Experimental Center and Gansu Judicial Appraisal Center.
