The purpose of Whitehead education
If Whitehead's teleology of education is summed up in one sentence, it is this sentence: students are flesh and blood, and the purpose of education is to inspire and guide them to the road of self-development.

This judgment on the purpose of education is different from Dewey's view that education has no purpose, and education is growth, which is a logical and value judgment of the same strain in thought. However, it is not easy to really understand this sentence. The educational purpose of human beings has gone through countless explorations and left many valuable experiences and lessons, but it is still in a misunderstanding, that is, the nationalist teleology of education and the personal growth theory of education. The reason why I don't introduce the social standard and individual standard of education here is because according to Dewey's point of view, social standard and individual standard are not contradictory, individuals are also social people, and society is a society composed of people.

When we say that a person grows up, he is actually exerting his talents and making contributions to society. When we say that education promotes social development, we actually mean that education promotes personal physical and mental health and makes contributions to society with healthy people and their personality.
