How to realize "connotative development" of higher education?
The report of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China pointed out that the core of developing higher education with China characteristics is to improve the quality and promote the connotative development of higher education. (1) Broaden the development path of professional degree education. Professional degree education is closely related to higher vocational education, but there is a lack of direct financing mechanism between higher vocational education and professional degree education in China. In the construction of higher vocational education system, it is necessary to reflect the overall coherence, establish an education system from junior college to undergraduate and then to graduate level, and realize the effective connection between higher vocational education and professional degree education. (2) To optimize the system of professional degree education, we should further improve the system of professional degree setting and authorization audit according to the suggestions made by the competent departments of industry, industry associations or relevant degree-granting units, guide the active participation of industry associations, and expand the autonomy of colleges and universities in running professional degree education. (3) New Professional Degree Education Talent Training Mode Degree education mainly trains research-oriented talents with innovative spirit and ability, while professional degree education mainly trains applied talents with good professional ethics, professional ability and accomplishment. (4) Improve the quality of professional degree education. As a degree education closely related to market demand and industry development, professional degree education should play the role of quality supervision of social industry organizations.
