1. Before the reform, Xiamen University was a comprehensive university of arts and sciences and Tianjin University was an engineering university. Nowadays, famous universities are striving for comprehensive universities, and merging other universities also needs to be merged.
2. The reason why Tianjin University is better than Xiamen University is that there are obviously more A- (copper) subjects than Xiamen University, but the number of A+ (gold) and A (silver) is equivalent, so there is no difference in grades.
3. Tianjin University has 14 A disciplines: chemical engineering and technology, mechanical engineering, optical engineering, instrument science and technology, management science and engineering, mechanics, materials science and engineering, power engineering and engineering thermophysics, architecture, civil engineering, water conservancy engineering, environmental science and engineering, urban and rural planning and software engineering.
