The Ministry of Education issued the latest naming standards for colleges and universities. The naming rules are that undergraduate colleges are called "XX University" or "XX College", junior college colleges are called "XX Vocational and Technical College/Vocational College", and undergraduate vocational schools are called "XX Vocational and Technical University/Vocational University". According to the characteristics of the region, industry and discipline where the school is located, appropriate qualifiers can be added.

In addition, the use of geographical fields in university names should follow the following specifications:

1. In principle, words such as "China", "China", "country" and "international" are not allowed to represent China and the world, nor are words such as "North China", "East China" and "Southwest China" allowed to be used.

A few days ago, in order to further standardize the naming work of colleges and universities, according to the relevant laws and regulations, combined with the actual work of setting up colleges and universities, the Ministry of Education studied and formulated the Interim Measures for the Naming of Colleges and Universities (hereinafter referred to as the Interim Measures), and officially issued it.

The Interim Measures shall apply to the naming of full-time universities, independent colleges, higher vocational schools (including undergraduate vocational schools and junior college vocational schools) and colleges after the release.

The "Interim Measures" emphasize that the names of institutions of higher learning should not be named after individuals in principle. Without authorization, the names used by other institutions of higher learning shall not be used. The name of an independent school transferred from an independent college shall not include the name of the original school and its abbreviation. Colleges and universities should keep their names stable. In principle, the time interval for renaming the same level should be at least 10 year.
