During the Westernization Movement, the Westernization School set up new schools and sent overseas students, which led to the first confrontation between modern education and traditional education in China and opened the course of educational modernization in China.

The establishment of new schools, the promotion of education by the Westernization Movement, and the subsequent Reform Movement and the May 4th Movement are all milestones in the modernization of education in China.
