Hong Kong Housing Authority defines Hong Kong Island and Kowloon as "urban areas" and Tsuen Wan New Town, Sha Tin New Town, Tseung Kwan O New Town, Tung Chung New Town, Kwai Chung and Tsing Yi as "extended urban areas".
Due to the shortage of public housing resources in urban areas, newly registered public housing applicants can only choose one of the other three non-urban areas as the supporting public housing area in the future. However, those who are eligible to apply for single elderly people, sharing elderly people or enjoying the priority allocation scheme, and choose to live in a flat with their family members, can choose any of the above districts.
However, we must know that public housing in Hong Kong does not last for a lifetime, but has a corresponding number of years. Only when it expires can we continue to apply, and as long as it is approved, we can still live. Of course, if the family's later conditions do not meet the requirements of sharing public houses, they will be disqualified.
To apply for public housing, the applicant must be at least 18 years old, and his family members must now live in Hong Kong and have the right to land in Hong Kong. Their stay in Hong Kong is not subject to conditions of stay (except those related to the duration of stay).
The monthly income and total net assets of the applicant's family shall not exceed the current limit.
The applicant and his family members do not own any residential property in Hong Kong. When allocating a house, at least half of the members in the application form must have lived in Hong Kong for seven years, and all members still live in Hong Kong.
