In the 13th year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1 143), when Zhu 14 years old, an unfortunate accident suddenly happened at home. His father, Zhu Song, died of serious illness and died young in Huanxi Jingshe, Shuinan, Jian 'an, at the age of 47. Before he died, he wrote a letter to his good friend Liu Ziyu, who lived in Wu Fuli, Chong 'an County, and solemnly entrusted him to handle the affairs.
Liu Ziyu came to visit after receiving the letter, which made Zhu Song very pleased. The worried and dying Confucian asked Zhu to follow his adoptive father to live in Five Blessingg, Chong 'an, and let him transport the coffin to Five Blessingg for burial. Zhu Song's original intention was to witness Zhu's success in the grave.
