Is it illegal for junior high school children to drop out of school voluntarily?
According to the Constitution, receiving compulsory education is both a right and an obligation. Children who drop out of school are outstanding, and parents of course break the law. Although there are no legal consequences, the future of their children may be affected by adolescence. They can drop out of school first and continue to study when they want to.

Legal basis: Article 46 of the Constitution: People's Republic of China (PRC) citizens have the right and obligation to receive education. The state trains young people, teenagers and children to develop in an all-round way in morality, intelligence and physique.

Article 16 of the Measures for the Administration of Student Status of Primary and Secondary School Students is suspended from school. In any of the following circumstances, students can apply for suspension:

(a) due to the diagnosis of illness, it is necessary to suspend classes for treatment and rest, accounting for more than one-third of the total class hours in a semester.

(two) in a semester due to personal leave time more than one-third of the total class hours in a semester is still unable to attend school.

(3) It is really necessary to drop out of school for other irresistible reasons. Students who have dropped out of school shall submit a written application by their parents or other guardians, submit an application form for dropping out of school and relevant certification materials, and report to the school registration department through the electronic student status system after being approved by the school. During the period of suspension, the school shall keep its student status.
