When people read Zuo Zhuan, they only pay attention to its historical value, but often ignore the Confucian attribute of its author Zuo Qiuming. Zuo Qiuming is a great scholar. His book Zuo Zhuan promoted the ideas of respecting ceremony, respecting morality, protecting the people and being cautious about punishment, carried forward Confucian classics and laid a theoretical foundation for later Confucianism. He made an indelible contribution to the interpretation of Confucius thought and the inheritance of Confucian culture. However, Zuo Qiuming's status as a great Confucian was ignored and he became a forgotten Confucian. Zuo Qiuming is not only an outstanding historian, but also an outstanding Confucian. His position in the history of Confucianism should be re-evaluated.
