A Brief Introduction to School of International Business English, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies
The college originally had two undergraduate majors, English and international business. Among them, English majors are divided into four major directions: English (international business management), English (international trade), English (international finance) and English (international economic law). With the approval of the Ministry of Education, the college began to offer undergraduate majors in international business (English teaching) in 2004. Since 2008, Business English has been offered as an undergraduate major, and the original English major names have been changed to Business English (International Business Management), Business English (International Trade), Business English (International Finance) and Business English (International Economic Law) respectively, in order to better highlight the talent training characteristics of "English+Business" in our college and highlight the school's training of "international compound talents with international vision and innovative consciousness, who can directly participate in international competition and cooperation".

Guangdong University of Foreign Studies has set up research directions such as legal linguistics, comparison between English and Chinese languages, and cross-cultural business communication under the master's degree in linguistics and applied linguistics. In 2008, the International Business English Institute was the first successful applicant in China and the first to obtain a master's degree in business English studies in two disciplines. The research scope of this subject includes three research directions: international business communication, business English language and business English teaching. The curriculum focuses on the orientation of research-oriented postgraduate training, which embodies the characteristics of interdisciplinary integration.
