The Institute of Chemical Defense of PLA Army Institute of Chemical Defense is a key military school. The PLA Army Institute of Chemical Defense is affiliated to the Army and undertakes the task of training middle and junior chemical defense commanding officers and middle and senior chemical defense engineering and technical officers for the whole army. Founded in 1950, the PLA Institute of Army Chemical Defense is the only institution of higher learning in China that trains nuclear, chemical and biological protection talents, and is known as the "cradle of chemical defense soldiers".

The college mainly trains chemical defense officers and noncommissioned officers for the whole army, and undertakes the task of training national nuclear and biochemical talents. It is the training base of the whole army's chemical defense talents, the innovation base of the army's chemical defense theory and practice, the national and military nuclear and biochemical emergency technical support center, and the international nuclear and biochemical security exchange window.
