Huilai County, an ancient town in eastern Guangdong, was called "Kuiyang" in ancient times. It is a county under the jurisdiction of Jieyang City, Guangdong Province, and the location of Yuedong New Town and Jieyang Binhai New Area. It is the core component of "One Core, One Belt, One Area" in Guangdong Province to enjoy the economic management authority of prefecture-level cities and some provincial management authority.
The land area of the county is 1253 square kilometers, the sea area is 7689 square kilometers, and the coastline is 109.5 kilometers. Huilai County was built in the third year of Jiajing in Ming Dynasty (1524), and was named after the establishment of Chaoyang and Haifeng counties in Huilai. After the establishment of the county, it was under the jurisdiction of Chaozhou government in the late Qing Dynasty. After the founding of New China, it belongs to Shantou City. 199 1 year, Jieyang county was removed from the county to build a city (prefecture level), and Huilai county was separated from Shantou city and placed under Jieyang city.
