In 2005, the National China Classical Poetry Reading Teaching Conference was held, with nearly 2,000 participants. Since then, the annual reading club has become the most influential platform to display children's classic reading achievements in China.
In 2007, Li Zhencun put forward the concept of "new classics", and the sustainable development of classic reading activities has new goals and directions.
