Nantong Normal University is a full-time provincial public normal college. Nantong Teachers College was founded by Zhang Jianyu 1902 (the 28th year of Guangxu reign of Qing Dynasty), a Wu Jia scholar, a famous political activist, industrialist, educator and patriot in modern China. It is the first independent secondary normal school in China-Tongzhou CoCo Lee Normal School. Tongzhou CoCo Lee Teachers College, Nanyang Teachers College and Shi Jing University Teachers College are recognized by the world as the three major sources of normal education in China. 1953 turned into a public office and was renamed Nantong Normal School, Jiangsu Province; 1958 merged with Nantong Women's Normal School founded by 1905; In April 2005, it merged with Haimen Normal School, which originated from 1906, to form Nantong Higher Normal School. In June, 20 14, Jiangsu provincial government approved the upgrading to Nantong Normal College, and in September of the same year, it merged with Rugao Normal College, which was founded in June, 20 1902, to form a new Nantong Normal College. The school consists of Nantong Campus, Rugao Campus and New Campus, covering an area of 326,500 square meters (48,966.68 mu), with a building area of 203,500 square meters, teaching and research equipment with a total value of 69,833,500 yuan, a collection of 676,000 books and 25 databases of various documents, which can be accessed remotely. There are 6 primary schools, 2 kindergartens and 52 practice bases. There are 592 teaching and administrative staff in the school, including 468 full-time teachers (including teachers with senior titles 190, teachers with master's degree or above 166) and 7 full-time students185 (including free normal students 1636). There are 9 normal majors such as preschool education and 2 non-normal majors such as business English/kloc-0. In addition, as a national, provincial and municipal three-level teacher training base and affiliated unit of Nantong primary and secondary school teacher training center, the school undertakes all kinds of teacher training at all levels all the year round.
