The candidates for CET written test are full-time undergraduate and junior college students in ordinary universities, full-time undergraduate and junior college students and graduate students in adult universities. Students who have completed CET-4 can apply for CET-4, and students who have scored above 425 in CET-6 can apply for CET-6.

After the CET-4 reform, the full mark of the report is 7 10, the writing part is 106.5, the listening part is 248.5, the reading part is 248.5, and the translation part is 106.5. Candidates whose test scores are above 220 will be sent by the National College English Test Committee for Band 4 and Band 6 entrusted by the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), and there is no passing line.

CET-4 and CET-6 stipulate that "those with a score of 425 or above in CET-4 can apply for CET-6". It is generally believed that the passing line of Band 4 is 425. Some schools also stipulate that the graduation certificate can only be issued after passing 425 points in CET-4. But now some schools have cancelled the link between CET-4 scores and degree certificates.

Form of CET-4 and CET-6:

In terms of content and form, CET-4 and CET-6 will increase the number and proportion of listening comprehension questions, increase the speed reading comprehension test and increase the proportion of non-multiple choice questions. In the pilot stage, the content, types and proportion of each part of CET-4 and CET-6 refer to the chart of English scores.

The oral test of CET-4 and CET-6 will still be implemented separately from the written test, and the oral test of CET-4 and CET-6, which has been implemented for five years, will continue. At the same time, the examination committee will actively study and develop computerized oral test, so as to further expand the scale of oral test and promote college oral English teaching.

In terms of examination management, the examination center of the Ministry of Education will launch a new registration and examination management system (pilot) for CET-4 and CET-6 from June 2005, strictly identify candidates' registration qualifications, strengthen examination room organization and examination discipline management, and earnestly do a good job in examination confidentiality.
