After reading the first two chapters of this book,
I have the following feelings about my family background:
1, it is very important to have a sense of belonging to the family. Promote the good things of the ancestors, make children feel proud, have a sense of belonging to the family, and have more courage or imitators. (This is also an important point mentioned in Narrative Therapy for Family Education. )
Just like elon musk's mother, she admired her parents since she was a child and felt that their spirit of adventure and change was extremely strong, which also made her proud. Therefore, when her life returns to zero three times in the future, she will no longer be afraid, but will continue to forge ahead ... elon musk grew up listening to her grandfather's adventures, and her inner adventurous spirit and courage have already planted seeds.
2. The importance of family inheritance. Elon musk's parents are both excellent scholars. Although knowledge can be learned through hard work, it is more fundamental to inherit. It doesn't help. Some children are born smarter.
On the other hand, elon musk is a naturally intelligent person. Coupled with the thirst for knowledge and thinking, elon musk has gone far beyond everything and achieved his present kingdom. What he pursues is to change mankind and promote human evolution, not just to pursue fame and fortune.
As parents, not everyone can have excellent genes, but what we can do is to learn excellent learning methods and achieve ourselves, so as to educate these efficient and excellent learning methods to our next generation.
Now brain science and various studies show that there are ways to learn. Only by following efficient learning methods and rules and developing good study habits can most children become excellent academic tyrants. All this requires the guidance and persistence of parents and continuous growth!
3. Parents' parenting style and Elon Musk's education are all laissez-faire, and I really believe that children can do it themselves. There is a sentence in the book: "He taught us that you can do anything, you just have to make a decision and let go." This upbringing was also applied to elon musk several generations later. This is the power of faith, and children will grow up again and again in their own experiences.
As parents, we can't use love as an excuse to break their wings that can soar in the sky. Growth comes from setbacks. What we give our children is enough trust and support!
When elon musk saw his mother and grandfather working so hard for their lives and dreams, he would be influenced by the abyss, not afraid of failure, learn more and absorb more, and start over.
This book also inspires me to work harder and become a better self!
