Why do some people say that the level of college students is declining now, which is similar to that of colleges and technical secondary schools twenty years ago?
I think we should understand this phenomenon from several aspects. This is a glimpse of a leopard in a tube, and my personal knowledge has played a role in attracting jade.

1, enrollment difference: Needless to say, the number of undergraduate students enrolled after the resumption of the college entrance examination in 1978, that is, the number of undergraduate students enrolled in colleges and universities nationwide 90 years ago was only a fraction of the current undergraduate line (about 1/3- 1/5). It is not the high level of high school students now, but the lack of undergraduate enrollment in that year. In the 1980s and 1990s, only about 15-25 students in the college entrance examination class were admitted to the undergraduate course, while only 3-5 students were admitted to the poor class, and the admission rate was extremely low. This is the result of the lack of educational resources in those years, not that those students failed to reach their intelligence level, so they were admitted to junior colleges and technical secondary schools. Similarly, the educational resources of secondary schools and junior colleges are also insufficient, so the admission line is also very high and the admission ratio is very low. Many people failed to reach the mark and were not admitted. Rural people go to agriculture, urban people go to social employment and become the backbone of enterprises. However, because these people failed in the college entrance examination, their IQ is not lower than that of the current list students. It is also very promising among peers, which is one of the important reasons why many students who failed or abandoned the college entrance examination many times later are still very successful in their careers!

2. Differences in knowledge: Universities are halls that continue to sublimate on the basis of basic knowledge. With the growth of age, the accumulation of knowledge, the enhancement of understanding and the study of application or research are the important tasks of universities. I remember that when we were in college, the first lesson of the teacher was to tell us that you are important talents in the future society, and the university is the place to train senior management or research-oriented talents. Our goal is not to make a living and earn money, but to master knowledge and create value for enterprises or units. For this reason, the university curriculum is very comprehensive, such as textile engineering, from college Chinese, applied English, basic electrician, advanced physics, mechanical principle, mechanical design, material mechanics, organic chemistry, accounting, management, history, to other professional courses of textile specialty, all auxiliary courses are full except for four years. The reason why I say this is because my class teacher told me personally that your professional courses in those days were less than half of those in the current undergraduate course, and many professional courses were just an introduction. Of course, I may be biased.

3. Differences in social environment: Children in the new era have not suffered too much, especially those in cities and rural areas in developed areas. When they go to school and get off work, they shout very hard and are very tired. They don't realize the significance of mastering learning knowledge in an all-round way. They just learn passively. All the purpose is to find a profitable job. Work is to make money. Although they naturally have the dividend of social development, they are also contaminated with convenient or utilitarian social habits. The new theory of the futility of reading is not spoken, but spoken at work. After graduation, I can't find the professional job I want to study or my professional job makes less money, so I came into contact with it. They are more concerned about how to increase their social practical experience and find a job to earn money, rather than how much knowledge they have mastered. Moreover, extreme examples such as going to Peking University to sell meat and graduate students to do urban management are fermenting in society, which makes people feel very embarrassed. Therefore, the phenomenon that college students are pampered, full of anxiety, narrow knowledge, poor hands-on ability and low comprehensive quality is also the performance of group phenomenon after enrollment expansion, that is, the number of college students you see is only those who do not perform well, but you don't see the elite. In fact, the proportion of contemporary real elite students is not too high, that is, it is similar to the proportion of people admitted in the 1980 s.

All people can go to college, and what you see is the masses, good and bad; In fact, personally, universities should still implement elite education! If you are not an elite, then it is not bad to study professionally and be an expert in that industry. There is no need to popularize university education like high school education. Do not select top students, waste educational resources and lose the trust of society in college students!
