Writing background of Zhang Zhongcheng's biography
Zhang Zhongcheng was born in Zhang Xun (709-757) and Nanyang, Dengzhou (now Nanyang City, Henan Province). Tang Xuanzong was a scholar at the end of kaiyuan, and the prince was appointed as Qinghe county magistrate and transferred to Zhenyuan county magistrate. The Anshi Rebellion began, and Zhang Xun fought in Qiu Yong. Later, he and Xu Yuan defended Suiyang (now Shangqiu City, Henan Province) together. In 757 AD, Su Zonghe was captured in the city, and 36 people were martyred at the same time. After the chaos, the court villains tried their best to spread the rumor that Zhang Xu was a thief, so as to attract the attention of the separatist forces. Han Yu was very angry about this, so in the second year of Yuanhe (807), after Li Han wrote the biography of Zhang Xun (now lost), he wrote this postscript and wrote a generous and tragic ode for the heroes. The full text is full of intense emotions, clear comments and criticisms, and discusses the internal and external cultivation of narrative, regardless of the guest and the host. It is "completely five paragraphs, no hooking up, but flowing, muddy style" (Gao Buning's "Tang Song Wen" quotation). The article describes the details of Nan Jiyun's hunger strike, shooting at the pagoda, Zhang Xun's reading of Hanshu, and the people's crying, which are vivid and vivid. When Zhong Cheng and Zhang Xun were stationed in Suiyang, the title was added by the imperial court.
