On March 20th, 2020, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council jointly issued the Opinions on Comprehensively Strengthening Labor Education in Colleges and Primary Schools in the New Period. The opinions clearly put forward in the extensive practice of labor education are: the family should play a fundamental role in labor education; Schools should play a leading role in labor education; Society should play a supporting role in labor education.

The 2022 edition of "Curriculum Standards for Labor Education" clearly points out in the curriculum objectives that the core literacy to be cultivated in the labor curriculum, that is, labor literacy, mainly refers to the correct values, necessary characters and key abilities that students gradually form in the process of study and labor practice to meet the needs of personal lifelong development and social development, and is a concentrated expression of the educational value of labor curriculum, mainly including labor concept, labor ability, labor habits and quality, and labor spirit.

Based on the understanding of the importance of labor education, our school uses the open space that has not been fully built on campus to carry out labor education in the semester. Firstly, the open space was reclaimed as a school labor base, and then a small base was distributed to 32 classes in grades one to six. The base is only a dozen square meters, but each class has its own labor base.

Education in the labor base has started for more than two months, and all kinds of vegetables have been planted in each class, including peppers, eggplants, cucumbers, leeks and melons and fruits. The overall situation is not bad, but the existing problems are still obvious.

First of all, the audience of labor education is limited. Because the labor base is not large, all class teachers spontaneously invite or sign up in various ways in the class. Finally, only a few children are responsible for the training of labor base with their parents. In this way, the labor education brought by the labor base only belongs to a small number of people.

Secondly, the work is mainly done by parents, and the students are just participants, more precisely, just helping or even just watching. Labor education is superficial and not really implemented on students. In the process of such labor practice, children do not really realize the experience brought by labor, so it has little effect on cultivating children's labor literacy. It can be seen that children's labor habits and labor literacy are very lacking, and it can also be seen that parents are very indifferent to their children's labor education.

Thirdly, the content of labor is single and the continuity is not strong. Basically, every base needs to work once when planting, and basically no work is needed after that. At best, water or sometimes weed.

Finally, judging from the effect of labor, it is not very ideal. Although it has been more than two months, the growth of various crops in the base is not very good. In addition to soil fertility and lack of sunshine, more reasons are that the class teacher did not give enough guidance and parents did not pay enough attention to it. Therefore, children don't care enough about the crops they grow.

The above reasons, in fact, mainly focus on the following points: first, the class teacher is not aware of labor education, and at the same time does not have the knowledge and skills related to labor education. Second, parents' awareness of labor education is not strong, and they do not cherish such rare labor opportunities. Although I am involved, I don't know how to guide my children to continue to pay attention to the fruits of labor. Third, young parents as parents lack labor skills. Parents are mostly children's mothers, born in the 1980s, and can hardly grow vegetables or other crops.

Based on the above reasons and current situation, the actual effect of labor education in the labor base can be imagined. In order to make the only labor base play a better labor education effect, it is necessary to carry out the following activities.

The first is the enhancement of teachers' awareness of labor education. This requires schools to organize relevant studies, such as the study of new curriculum standards is the most important. Secondly, popularize teachers' labor education skills. Only teachers can plant can they teach their children to plant. Third, strengthen the education of parents' labor consciousness. Only in this way can parents cooperate more with teachers and schools and let their children actively participate in various labor education activities. Finally, expand the base of labor education. There is not enough on campus, so you can go outside. Once we look outside the school, labor education is like finding an outlet, and labor resources will be inexhaustible.

It is clearly pointed out in the Opinions on Strengthening Labor Education in Colleges and Primary Schools in an All-round Way in the New Period that all social resources should be fully utilized to provide the necessary guarantee for labor education. Government departments at all levels should actively coordinate and guide enterprises, companies, factories, farms and other organizations to fulfill their social responsibilities, open practice places, support schools to organize students to participate in productive labor and new service labor within their capabilities, and let students experience the labor process with ordinary workers. Encourage high-tech enterprises to provide support for students to experience new forms and ways of labor practice under the conditions of modern science and technology. Trade unions, the Communist Youth League, women's federations and other mass organizations, as well as various public welfare foundations and social welfare organizations, should organize and mobilize relevant forces, build an activity platform, and jointly support students to go deep into urban and rural communities, welfare homes and public places to participate in voluntary service, carry out public welfare work and participate in community governance.
