The initiative and enthusiasm of students in learning is the internal motivation of learning, which directly affects learning attitude and learning effect. Learning without internal motivation is difficult to carry out and even more difficult to last. Students' learning initiative and enthusiasm are influenced by many factors, such as curiosity, interest, thirst for knowledge, good grades, entrance examination or desire to be praised and rewarded in order to realize a lofty ideal. This requires teachers to take advantage of the situation in teaching, give full play to the attraction of teaching materials, and make use of the great role of the interesting, mysterious, artistic conception and value of teaching materials in social life, production, scientific research and human development to improve students' interest in learning and cultivate their enthusiasm for learning. Mobilizing students' thinking activities and developing students' thinking ability are important aspects to stimulate students' learning initiative and enthusiasm. For example, when you encounter special functions of certain words, unfamiliar phrases or new sentence patterns, you can contact the teaching materials and students' reality, ask some enlightening questions, stimulate students' thinking, "let students jump up and pick peaches" and draw their own conclusions and answers. 2. Guide students to learn creatively with their hands, brains and mouths.
Enlightenment should not only guide students to use their brains and mouths, but also guide students to solve practical problems independently with their hands, brains and mouths. Because there is a gradual deepening process for students to master knowledge, they may not be able to do it if they understand it, and they may not be creative if they can do it. Therefore, I often purposefully and systematically inspire and induce students to apply what they have learned to practice, assign them all kinds of homework from easy to difficult, and ask students to adhere to the "five more", that is, listen more, speak more, read more, write more and practice more. After each class, rewrite the text into a reading training textbook, or let students retell it, or let students do cloze, or let students simulate performances, or let students write their own experiences in English, etc., so as to provide materials, situations and conditions as much as possible for students to complete their homework independently, thus developing students' oral and written English expression ability and creativity.
3. Teach students how to learn.
Heuristic teaching should not only guide students to consciously understand and use English knowledge, but also teach students how to learn, master learning methods and understand the learning process. The author often tells students many years of English teaching experience and learning experience, and three points should be paid attention to when learning English: (1) Pay close attention to the special functions of some words; (2) We should constantly expand the ability to recognize and use phrases; (3) To accumulate a large number of English sentence patterns and tell them "the trick of remembering words", it is mainly through mastering synonyms and antonyms in English and using English word-formation knowledge to expand vocabulary and improve word-using ability and reading speed. This is an important guarantee to implement the guiding ideology of heuristic teaching.
