Hefei No.1 Middle School, formerly known as Luzhou Middle School, was founded in the 28th year of Guangxu by Li Hongzhang's successor. It is the earliest and oldest new school in Hefei. After a hundred years of vicissitudes, the school was renamed Hefei No.1 Middle School in Anhui Province. 1955 was designated as a provincial key middle school, 1995 became a member of UNESCO club, and was designated as a provincial model high school in 2000.
