According to China Education Network, Huairou Experimental Base was selected and founded by Mr. Qian Xuesen after he returned to China. It is the first rocket research and test base in China, and has made great historical contributions to "two bombs and one satellite" in China.

Huairou experimental base was established in 1958, then called Beijing Mining and Metallurgy School. The main task of the base is to explore high-energy propellant and rocket test technology.
