The relevant state departments have organized and compiled new textbooks on ethics and rule of law, Chinese and history in compulsory education, which will be put into use nationwide on September 1.

In accordance with the requirements of unified compilation and use of textbooks for three subjects and full coverage in three years, in the autumn semester of 20 17, textbooks will be compiled in a unified way for the first grade of primary school and the first grade of junior high school in all regions of China, 20 18 covers the first grade of primary school and the second grade of junior high school, and 20 19 covers all grades.

According to the principle of from near to far, from shallow to deep, spiraling upward, the teaching materials of morality and rule of law are gradually expanded from the field of family-school-community-country-world life, with carefully selected learning materials, equal emphasis on morality and rule of law, strengthening practical experience and comprehensively and systematically practicing the main values.

The textbook "Bian Bian Ben" pays attention to the implementation of Chinese excellent traditional culture education, and the selection of ancient poems in Chinese textbooks has increased and the genres are diverse. There are 129 ancient poems in primary school and 132 ancient poems in junior high school, among which ancient poems are the main ones, such as Mulan Poem, Being a Farmer's Benevolence, Poem of a Wandering Son, Crossing the Zero Ding Yang, Xiuer, and some classical Chinese, such as Yu Gong's The Analects of Confucius. Special columns have been added, and traditional cultural contents such as couplets, idioms, proverbs, two-part allegorical sayings and learning books have been arranged, so that students can be influenced by Chinese excellent traditional culture while accumulating languages.

The supplementary textbook pays attention to strengthening the education of revolutionary tradition, and the Chinese textbook contains a large number of classic articles of revolutionary tradition, such as Commemorating Bethune, Serving the People, Helping the Poor, People who Drag Back to Dig Wells, Zhu De's Pole, Five Heroes of Langya Mountain, founding ceremony, Ode to the Yellow River and I Love This Land. In order to broaden students' horizons, cultivate scientific spirit and enhance cultural understanding, Chinese textbooks pay attention to absorbing the essence of excellent human thought and culture and select famous works from different countries. The selected works involve revolutionary leaders and historical figures such as Lenin and Gorky, scientists such as Madame Curie and Fabers, and natural and human landscapes such as Dutch pastures and Egyptian pyramids. Selected masterpieces such as Gorky's Haiyan, Hugo's letter to Captain Butler about the British-French Allied Expedition to China, Bacon's Talking about Reading, Andersen's The Emperor's New Clothes, Defoe's Robinson Crusoe, etc. Foreign works selected in Chinese textbooks for compulsory education account for about 10% of the total number of articles.
