I. History of Xixian County
Xixian County belonged to Yuzhou in Xia and Shang Dynasties and was founded in Zhou Dynasty. Its capital is Qingliu Temple, 6 kilometers southwest of Jinxi County.
In 682 BC, the state of Chu ceased to take interest and set up a county, which was the reason for the state of Qin. The Western Han Dynasty was renamed Xinxi County, and the Eastern Han, Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties belonged to Runan County (country).
After the establishment of the Western Jin Dynasty, Xinxi County was under the jurisdiction of Runan. During the Sixteen Kingdoms Period of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, it was occupied by the regimes of Houzhao, Yan Qian, Qianqin, Jin Dong and Houqin successively, all under the jurisdiction of runan county.
During the Southern and Northern Dynasties, Liu Song and Xiao Qi in the Southern Dynasties were still under the jurisdiction of Runan County. Eastern Zhou was added in the Northern Wei Dynasty. In the Southern Dynasties, Liang Xiao first set up runan county in Yuzhou, and later renamed Huaizhou. During the Eastern Wei Dynasty, it was restored to the seat of Runan County in eastern Henan.
