The historical origin of Beijing Jiaotong University can be traced back to 1896. Its predecessor was the Railway Management Training Institute of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications founded by the Qing government in Beijing on September 1909. It is the cradle of telecommunication engineering, traffic engineering and management education in China. 192 1 jiaotong university was merged and formed, and was named jiaotong university Beijing school, Beijing jiaotong university, national chiao tung university, national Beiping railway management institute, China jiaotong university, Beijing railway institute and northern jiaotong university. In 2000, it merged with Beijing Electric Power Institute and was placed under the direct management of the Ministry of Education. In 2003, the name of "Beijing Jiaotong University" was restored.
