Henan Institute of Science and Technology is a provincial undergraduate college. Founded in 1949, formerly known as Beijing Agricultural University Changzhi Branch and Pingyuan Agricultural School, it originated from the Biology Department of Yan 'an Academy of Natural Sciences. It has experienced the periods of Pingyuan Agricultural College, Baiquan Agricultural College and Henan Vocational and Technical Teachers College. In May 2004, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was renamed Henan Institute of Science and Technology.
