By June 30th, 2007, there were 339 local organizations, including 30 provincial organizations, 280 provincial organizations and 29 county organizations. The total membership is 1672 18.
Among the members, 238 1 are deputies to people's congresses at all levels, 1 1885 are members of the CPPCC at all levels, and 1 157 are leaders of governments and judicial organs at or above the county level. Jiu San Society has more than 80 members successively, including China Academy of Sciences and China Academy of Engineering/KLOC-0. Many members have made outstanding contributions to China's scientific and technological undertakings. ?
The Jiu San Society has a deep relationship with the May 4th Movement. The founder of the Jiu San Society actively participated in or was deeply influenced by the May 4th Movement. In the later period of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, a group of scholars in culture, education and natural sciences inherited and carried forward the patriotic spirit of the May 4th Movement against imperialism and feudalism, with democracy and science as their purpose.
Encouraged by China's policy of supporting and anti-Japanese national united front, a symposium on democratic science was held in Chongqing, and scholars from natural science symposiums joined in succession. To commemorate the great victory of the anti-fascist war in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the world, 1945, on September 3rd, the symposium on democratic science held an enlarged meeting, which was later renamed as the symposium on September 3rd. On May 4th, 1946 was transformed into Jiu San Society.
