Except for the following countries, Chinese herbal medicines and patent medicines that are explicitly prohibited from leaving the country are: musk, toad venom, tiger bone, rhinoceros horn, bezoar and so on. (excluding the Chinese patent medicines mixed with a small amount of musk and Venenum Bufonis, such as Musk Yang Huan Ointment and Liushen Pill, but including medicines containing rhinoceros horn and tiger bones). Chinese patent medicines containing ephedrine mainly include Biyan Tablet, Compound Chuanbei Zhike Syrup, Chailian Oral Liquid and Zhi Zhi Syrup. Large doses of ephedra will cause spasm, myocardial infarction and stroke.

Chinese patent medicines containing morphine mainly include Changweining, Kechuanning, Kesuiting, Keke and Xiaoerzhixieling. Morphines are banned because they may be addictive. Chinese patent medicines containing strychnine mainly include Da Die Wanhua Oil, Rheumatoid Arthritis Tablets, Guci Capsules and Arthritis Ointment.
