Wuhan Institute of Physical Education, formerly known as Central South Institute of Physical Education, is one of the first independent full-time colleges and universities in New China. 1953 was founded in Nanchang, Jiangxi, 1955 moved to Wuhan, Hubei, and 1956 was renamed Wuhan Institute of Physical Education. Before 200 1, the school was a college directly under the State Sports General Administration, and in September 20001,it was changed to a college jointly established by the State Sports General Administration and the Hubei Provincial People's Government.
The school has two campuses, Zhuodaoquan Campus (headquarters) and Qianlong Island Campus (branch), with a total area of 1398 mu and a construction area of more than 600,000 square meters.
