Since 2022, the reform of the senior high school entrance examination in Beijing has been officially launched. At present, the first batch of 14 cities (excluding Beijing) have announced their plans. From 2024, the senior high school entrance examination in Beijing will fully implement the "3+ 1+2" model.
In terms of examination content, the scores of Chinese, mathematics and English are cancelled, and physics, chemistry and biology are selected as examination subjects, but they are not included in the total score. In terms of comprehensive quality evaluation, students will be inspected and evaluated in an all-round way, and the academic level test scores of junior high school graduates are linked to the entrance of senior high school students.
Beijing's senior high school entrance examination reform is the second batch of cities to carry out reform pilots after Shanghai. According to the plan, by the end of 2024, Beijing will completely cancel the scores of senior high school entrance examination subjects, and junior high school students will choose three subjects from the original seven subjects as examination subjects. Specifically, all subjects are arranged to be held after the end of the next semester of Grade Three, and organized and implemented by Beijing Education Examinations Institute.

It is understood that the new senior high school entrance examination plan will be formulated by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission. It will be implemented from the first-year freshmen enrolled in the fall of 20021.
Compared with Beijing's previous reforms, the biggest highlight of Beijing's senior high school entrance examination reform is to break the traditional concept of "score-based". This is related to the "Implementation Measures for Comprehensive Quality Evaluation of Junior High School Graduates in Beijing" (hereinafter referred to as the "Measures").
The "Measures" clarify that the comprehensive quality record takes the growth process of students at school as the main content, highlighting the investigation of students' ideological and political, moral quality and cultural knowledge; Pay attention to the development of students;
Highlight the respect for students' personality development; Highlight the typical characters and events in the process of growth; Highlight the record of students' professional development and potential mining; Reflect the observation and record of students' living habits and behavior habits.
The "Measures" emphasize that the comprehensive evaluation records of junior high school graduates should be included in the academic level examination records of the senior high school entrance examination, and grade presentation should be implemented to promote the all-round development of students. According to the requirements of the Measures, comprehensive quality evaluation is one of the important bases for junior high school graduates to enter higher education.
