Library and Information Education and Knowledge Management
On the basis of analyzing the concern of library and information science circles about knowledge management and related research results, this paper expounds the influence of knowledge management on library and information education, the acceptance of knowledge management from academia to education and the practice of teaching reform, and probes into the integration connotation and feasible ways and methods of library and information education based on knowledge management.

Knowledge management is becoming an important research topic in the field of library and information science or information management. The profound influence of knowledge management on the construction of library and information science will inevitably affect the professional construction and educational reform. In the article "On Knowledge Management and Library and Information Education Reform", the author puts forward that the curriculum system of library and information education should be reformed vigorously, and knowledge management should be regarded as an important reference index for the long-term planning of professional core courses and curriculum modules. Based on the existing research, this paper attempts to further explore the integration of library and information education under the concept of knowledge management, aiming at deeply discussing the connotation and mode of library and information education integration based on knowledge management.

1 background of library and information science education integration: research on knowledge management of library and information science.

The integration of library and information education based on knowledge management is based on the analysis of the profound influence of knowledge management on library and information science, that is to say, the research and concern of library and information science on knowledge management has promoted the integration and development of library and information education. Of course, the practice of library and information service also constitutes an important force for the education sector to attach importance to and adopt knowledge management, but the starting point of this paper is mainly the educational reform driven by the development of disciplines. Through the analysis of the existing literature, we can find that the research on knowledge management in the field of library and information science at home and abroad has constituted an important part of knowledge management research.

1. 1 Analysis of knowledge management research in library and information science in China.

The research on knowledge management in the field of library and information science began in the 1990s, and after several years, a number of weighty research results have been formed. This paper only analyzes it from the perspective of library and information science discipline construction. For example, Professor Lai pointed out that the original discipline framework based on literature information will be difficult to meet the requirements of the new century, and we need to establish a discipline framework based on data, facts and knowledge, which is information science with information management and knowledge management as its core. Professor Yue Jianbo believes that on the evolution ladder of the basic concepts of information management chain, there are different levels such as data management, information management (information processing), knowledge management and intelligent management. Broadly speaking, we are all research fields of information management. The transition from knowledge management to intelligent management, that is, the "activation" or "activation" of knowledge, belongs to the problem of information science. Information science is a branch of information management science facing information exchange and management in information science group, but information science focuses on high-level issues of information management-knowledge management and intelligent management.

In addition, in order to promote the development of information science education, the Theory, Method and Education Committee of China Science and Technology Information Society and the Information Science Committee of China National Defense Science and Technology Information Society jointly held the "Seminar on the Development Strategy of Information Science Education in the New Century" from July 28 to August 1 2002. Some representatives believe that the core field of information science is information resources or knowledge resources. The discipline construction of information science should be combined from point to surface, not too broad, point first, and do a solid job. To develop information science, we should rely on the core fields to find new growth points and intersections, and knowledge management is the new growth point. From the above domestic academic research, we can find that knowledge management has become an important influence force in the discipline construction of library and information science in China, and even one of the important directions of the discipline construction of library and information science in China.

1.2 Analysis of knowledge management in library and information science abroad.

According to the brief introduction of the papers published by Chu et al. in foreign journals of library and information science in 2000 and 20001year, in recent years, many researchers in foreign libraries and information science are also paying attention to knowledge management research, such as:

Aslibproceedings published the article "The Future of University Libraries" in issue 200 1 3. The author thinks that the future university library will still be the distribution center of resources and the physical place and function of organizing information and services. Library collections will continue to exist, but in different ways, physical collections will mutate into multifunctional spaces. These factors are: the need and cost of knowledge acquisition, the degree of knowledge acquisition from the external environment, internal knowledge processing, internal knowledge storage, internal knowledge utilization and distribution in the organization and attention to human resources.

American Journal of the Information Society (No.4, 2000) pays attention to the technology, service and social research of digital libraries, in which "Content and knowledge management in digital libraries and museums" discusses the design of digital libraries oriented to content and knowledge management.

The articles published in the Journal of Documentary Work (No.1 2000) include: Total Quality Management from the Perspective of Knowledge Management. From the research trends of library and information science abroad, knowledge management has become an important research field and hot spot for library and information science researchers, which has actually profoundly affected the research of library and information science in China.

2 knowledge management factors in the research of library and information education reform

On a global scale, the education of library and information science is being adjusted from developed countries to developing countries, and the education of library and information science is showing a surging trend. The concern of library and information science research on knowledge management and the infiltration and influence of knowledge management on the construction of library and information science will certainly have a far-reaching impact on the education and reform of library and information science. Many domestic scholars have fully affirmed the factors of actively absorbing knowledge management in the educational reform of library and information science. Although it is not clear from the current development that knowledge management will inevitably become the leading direction of library and information science education reform, the research on library and information science education reform around knowledge management shows us the influence of knowledge management on the concept of library and information science education reform.

For example, Professor Wu Weici and others pointed out that the study of knowledge and its related issues, specifically, the study of knowledge economy, knowledge organization, knowledge management, knowledge discovery, data mining and intellectual property protection, has gradually become a hot topic in the fields of library science and information science and a symbol of the growth and development of its discipline system. This will have a far-reaching impact on the reform of library and information science education system.

Professor Qiu Junping pointed out in the article "Knowledge Management and Library and Information Science Innovation" that the research on the interactive relationship between knowledge management and library and information science is still very scarce at present, and this research can be mainly carried out from three aspects: the relationship between knowledge management and library and information science, the influence of knowledge management on library and information science, and the reform and innovation of library and information science based on knowledge management. Among them, the research on the influence of knowledge management on library and information science should include the requirements for the quality of library and information science talents and the influence of professional education. This raises the question of how to construct the education system of library and information specialty based on the concept of knowledge management.

Professor Chu Lijing and Professor Zhou Qingshan believe that there are many striking similarities between the development of library and information education in China and the West, and some of their views and practices are not without reference and enlightenment for us. Interdisciplinary, students need to study economics, cognitive psychology and communication, educational technology, etc. The departments of library and information science will be integrated into a larger department, and the types and modes of teaching plans will be varied; Educators and library and information practitioners need to communicate more closely, pay attention to professional education together, and cooperate to cultivate talents to meet the needs of the future society.

3. Introducing knowledge management into the practice of library and information science education reform.

The influence of knowledge management on the educational reform of library and information science is not only reflected in the concept, but also in the educational practice such as teaching plan and curriculum setting. Judging from the global development trend, with the development of society, library and information education institutions in various countries have made considerable adjustments to their courses. Different library and information education institutions at home and abroad have set up knowledge management or related courses. Although knowledge management courses are mainly offered at the level of postgraduate education at present, there are also many attempts to offer knowledge management elective courses in undergraduate teaching.

From abroad, for example, the elective courses of the Graduate School of Library and Information Science in Dominican Republic, Illinois, USA include: knowledge management, knowledge technology and so on. Courses in the Department of Information Systems in Marmor, Maryland include: knowledge management and knowledge organization. From the domestic perspective, the elective courses of information management department of Peking University are: knowledge management and enterprise informatization. In 2002, the information science major of Beijing Normal University will focus on three research directions: credit investigation and competitive business situation analysis, knowledge management and consulting planning, and information management, aiming at cultivating innovative talents who are proficient in information management and e-commerce implementation. Based on the research of traditional disciplines, this major will pay special attention to the combination and applied research with modern information technology, information economy, information society and competitive intelligence. In recent years, the education circle of library and information science in Taiwan Province Province has attached great importance to the construction of knowledge management courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In order to realize the educational goal of training all-round information dissemination experts who pay equal attention to theory and practice and engage in information collation, value-added, knowledge management and dissemination, many universities in Taiwan Province Province have added knowledge management courses, such as the Library and Information Science Section of the Department of Social Education of Taiwan Province Normal University, the Institute of Books and Archives of Taiwan Province University of Political Science, and the Department and Institute of Information Communication of Shixin University. From this, we can explore the common trend of library and information education in the world, that is, the enhancement of knowledge management function. Not only have many schools added knowledge management to their courses, but some schools have also set up knowledge management research centers (such as Dominican University in Illinois, USA), which reflects the demand of social and business practice for disciplines and education.

4. Connotation and approaches of the integration of library and information education based on knowledge management.

From the development of research and practice of library and information science and library and information education, it is not only theoretically necessary but also practically feasible to discuss the reform direction and integration mode of library and information education from the perspective of knowledge management. At present, the integration of library and information education based on knowledge management should focus on the adjustment of curriculum system and the implementation of integration means.

4. 1 Library and Information Curriculum Integration Based on Knowledge Management

In fact, the problem of curriculum integration is the focus of the whole education circle, which is not only the realistic necessity of optimizing the organizational structure of contemporary curriculum, but also the historical necessity of the continuous reform of university curriculum. In foreign countries, curriculum integration usually refers to "a special effort to make the different parts of the study plan more closely linked". From this, we can understand curriculum integration as: breaking the existing framework of discipline division, building a new form of curriculum classification, and re-selecting content. The so-called integration of knowledge management and traditional courses is to organically combine knowledge management with traditional related courses by updating the subject curriculum system, take knowledge management as the learning object or tool, change the traditional teaching content and training objectives, cultivate students' innovative spirit and practical ability, and adapt to the requirements of the times and work. It will have the following effects on the curriculum reform: the renewal of educational concepts; Innovation of course content; Curriculum implementation reform; Changes in curriculum resources, etc.

4.2 Ways and methods of integrating library and information education based on knowledge management

The integration of library and information education based on knowledge management can be implemented from the following aspects.

(1) Infrastructure construction. The integration of knowledge management in library and information education needs the following basic conditions:

-Building a digital hardware environment to provide material conditions for curriculum integration.

-Build various teaching application software platforms for knowledge management, including teaching platform, resource platform, management platform and communication platform.

The penetration of knowledge management in traditional library and information education has become a reality, although it is too early to build a library and information education system with knowledge management as the core at present, and it may even be difficult to become a reality in the long run; However, there should be a theoretical and practical basis for revising the original library and information teaching plan, properly absorbing knowledge management courses, or building and developing knowledge management as a direction.

(3) Introduce vocational training mode. In the process of integrating the traditional library and information education system with knowledge management, we can learn from the vocational training models of some big companies. Many large multinational companies have their own specialized management training institutions, serving not only their own enterprises, but also providing training for external institutions. The IBM Institute of Advanced Business Administration (ABI) is such an institution. One of its most important tasks is to investigate how e-commerce strategy affects organizations and their information management, human resource management and related technologies. It also helps customers to understand and apply some cutting-edge concepts, improve their decision-making ability, and help customers better understand the latest trends and problems in the whole industry. The college offers some short-term or short-term courses.

Long-term different courses involve different fields and are taught by experts in various fields. The courses mainly cover: enterprise redesign, customer relationship management, knowledge management, business intelligence, supply chain management, collaboration and human resource management, strategy and leadership, etc. Here, knowledge management is discussed as an independent management theme.
