What are the Six Classics of Confucius?
Six Classics: Poetry, Calligraphy, Ceremony, Yi, Yue, Spring and Autumn.

Confucius, the founder of Confucianism in China, compiled poems, books, rituals, changes, music and the Spring and Autumn Period in his later years, which were later called the Six Classics. Jing Yue has been lost, so it is usually called the Five Classics. The Book of Rites: The Han Dynasty refers to the Book of Rites, and the Book of Rites in the Five Classics after the Song Dynasty generally refers to the Book of Rites.

These six ancient books were not written by Confucius, but existed long before Confucius. Confucius just did some sorting work on them. These six ancient books, preserved from ancient times to the present, were owned by the royal family and nobles before Confucius, and were highly valued by the rulers of past dynasties. These six ancient books are included in the textbooks listed by Shen Shushi when he talked about educating the prince in "The Country is in Danger at the Beginning and the Business is in Danger".

The ancestor of library collection

Confucius returned to Shandong at the age of 68 and began to sort out books and classics. Especially in his later years, his main energy was spent on collating and sorting out ancient books. Confucius was the earliest book categorizer in China. It is said that he sorted out the Book of Songs, Shangshu and other documents, and edited the Spring and Autumn Annals recorded by Lu, which became the first chronological history book in China.

When sorting out documents, Confucius created a bibliography method to reveal that documents are "the preface" and "the meaning". Preface the poetry collection, or attach it to the back of the book, or near the beginning of the book, or a single line, which plays an important role in revealing the content of literature. The six arts defined by Confucius had a great influence on the bibliographic classification of Bielu and Qilv by Liu Xiang and Liu Xin in Han Dynasty.
