First, defining goals is more utilitarian.
200 1 Yin Jianting, a Chinese teacher in a key middle school in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province, wrote in her article: "I want to tell you clearly that I am going to college for myself, not for others ... I can find a good job and earn a lot of money in the future, so that I can have a beautiful personal life, such as a happy life, a full life, a bright future and a brilliant career. Therefore, I emphasize that reading should be for yourself! " The newspaper disclosed this matter, and some people summarized Yin Jianting's point of view as "(the purpose of life is) to make a lot of money, marry a beautiful woman and have a clever son". As a result, there was an uproar online and offline, and people talked about it.
In today's pluralistic values, perhaps we can't say that this view is wrong. "Knowledge changes fate", and many people are eager to go out of the mountains and change their destiny through reading. Many people did go through this road, left the mountains, entered the city, got a good job, got a wife and children, got a house and a car. However, this is not the only goal of reading, and even for many people, it is just an incidental "result" in the process of life struggle.
The philosopher Feng Youlan once divided all kinds of life realms into four levels in the article "Life Realm":
We can divide different areas of life into four grades. From the lowest point of view, they are: natural realm, utilitarian realm, moral realm and heaven and earth realm.
A person may only act according to his instinct or the customs of his society. Like children and primitive people, he did what he had to do, but he didn't realize it, or didn't understand it very well. In this way, what he does is meaningless or of little significance to him. His life realm is what I call the natural realm.
A person may realize himself and do all kinds of things for himself. This does not mean that he must be immoral. He can do one thing, the consequences are beneficial to others, and his motivation is self-interest. So all kinds of things he has done are of utilitarian significance to him. His realm of life is what I call utilitarian realm.
Others may know the existence of society, and he is a member of society. This society is a whole, and he is a part of it. With this understanding, he does all kinds of things for the benefit of society, or, as Confucianism says, he does things for the sake of "righteousness without profit." He is really a moral person, and what he does is a moral behavior that conforms to strict moral significance. Everything he does has moral significance. So his life realm is what I call moral realm.
Finally, people may realize that there is a bigger whole besides the whole society, and that is the universe. He is not only a member of society but also a member of the universe. He is a citizen of social organizations, and at the same time, he is what Mencius called "Heaven and Man". With this understanding, he did all kinds of things for the benefit of the universe. He understands the significance of what he has done and realizes that he is doing what he has done. This kind of understanding constitutes the highest realm of life for him, which is what I call the realm of heaven and earth.
Among these four realms of life, the people in the natural realm and the utilitarian realm are the people now; People with moral realm and heaven and earth realm are what people should be. The first two are natural products, while the latter two are spiritual creation. The natural realm is the lowest, the utilitarian realm goes up, the moral realm goes up, and finally the realm of heaven and earth. "
In this way, although the "goal" of Yin Jianting's study is reasonable and can only be regarded as "utilitarian realm", in this way, the world is a selfish world of "everyone for me". Living in such a world, people's happiness will be discounted.
So, why do you study? This is a question that students should think deeply, and it is also a question that we should guide students to think. Why do you teach? I think this should be a question that every educator should think about.
Second, setting goals is divorced from reality.
The first time I heard the word "garbage time" was when I was watching an NBA game. At that time, the score gap between the two teams was too big, the ball was controlled by the leading side, and the leading side slowly dawdled; The backward party has lost its fighting spirit-it's too far away to catch up and is muddling along. The commentator at that time used this word: "The game has entered garbage time ..."
Today, I heard a student say in the classroom, "This garbage time is really unbearable-"I stopped leaving the classroom and instinctively looked back at him. His eyes met mine and he ate the second half of "Ah-". I trudged out of the classroom without saying anything.
"The deceased is like this!" Thousands of years ago, the sages stood by the river and expressed the ruthlessness of time: gone forever! Since then, the metaphor "Time is like running water" has been used countless times by countless people. "Flowers are similar every year, and people are different every year." How many people are sad for the similar flowers and different people every year; "Hualin thanked Chunhong and left in a hurry." In a hurry, the flowers have withered, the beautiful scenery has gone, and people are easy to get old! How many people "lament the moment of my life and envy the infinity of the Yangtze River"! All the words that hurt spring never stayed in his mind. Why? My heart is heavy.
Look at the countdown card downstairs: "Only 43 days before the college entrance examination"! As soon as you walk out of the classroom and stand in the corridor and look down, you can see this number. However, for him, this is just a meaningless decoration. Why?
When I got back to the office, I told my colleagues this sentence smoothly. A colleague's amazing words shocked me: "He feels hopeless, of course it's garbage time!" " Besides, he is the only student who has time? More waiting! "
Yes, there is no hope, only "forbearance" But who makes them feel desperate? Thinking of the mobilization meeting 50 days before the college entrance examination, the person who went up to express his determination said, "Heaven rewards diligence, and in June, my college dream will definitely come true!" But how many of these 1500 people actually went to college? Only 300 to 400 people can make the list. 1000 people either go home to farm, go south to work, or come back to study after the college entrance examination. However, what we mentioned most in the small meeting of the general assembly was: "In 2004, my college dream will come true!" "I want to inspire people, but how many people are disappointed. After mock exams again and again, how many people are disappointed or even desperate about the scores that can no longer be improved! Therefore, this precious time is regarded as "garbage" by them!
Is the slogan divorced from reality inspiring or discouraging? Students can't climb Mount Everest, but say to them, "Mount Everest is not terrible, as long as they are willing to climb it." Students can't "soar" and "Wan Li", but they should say to students, "Shake your wings and you will definitely win the crown on the moon." There are not many people in the whole school who can "cross the Yangtze River and Yellow River" to go to college, but they have to say to the students: "If you ride the wind and waves, you will definitely cross the Yangtze River and Yellow River and move northward." Sometimes I think about it, how ridiculous and pathetic it is! When our slogan is only sound without actual content, students' hearts are only the long yellow sand of disappointment and the oasis of hopelessness. What kind of failure is our education? !
I think we know that they can't "go to the moon for nine days" or "go to the five oceans to catch turtles". Instead, we should encourage them to pick the "grapes" that can be picked with one jump and catch the "small fish" that Nu can catch with one hand.
There was a joke in the former Soviet Union: an old man listened to the report of the chairman of the farm, and he said that a beautiful life appeared on the eastern horizon. The old man didn't understand, so he went home and asked his grandson what his vision was. Sun Tzu said to Grandpa, "The horizon is a line on the distant horizon. We can see it, but we cannot touch it. The closer you are to it, the farther it is from you. " The old man sighed and said, "It's over, there's no hope."
In our campus, this joke is not a joke.
This goal is put forward to encourage students. When the "goal" becomes a "distant horizon", it will not only fail to inspire their fighting spirit, but also make them lose confidence. When guiding students to set goals, we should not set reasonable goals regardless of the status quo for lofty goals, and base ourselves on daily "cultivation" to encourage students to overcome immediate difficulties, make progress step by step and make a little progress every day. This is "success".
Third, pursue quick success and instant benefit.
Today's campus is not without "inspiration", but with too many "inspirations": in the early morning, loud slogans resounded through the campus: "Head hanging, cone biting, you can struggle 100 days, happy life"; On campus, there are inspirational slogans everywhere: "One day, I will go north and become famous"; In the classroom, even banners such as "I donate blood for the college entrance examination" are hung on the wall ... But after reading them carefully, we can easily see that there is only one goal behind these slogans-"the college entrance examination"! However, the college entrance examination is not the whole of life. Encourage students' minds. If we only pay attention to the small interests of the golden tongue in front of us, students will easily be knocked down by the "exam" and defeated by the "ranking". Teachers also tend to focus on the improvement of students' rankings and grades, while ignoring or even denying students' efforts and other qualities. Students are easily hit by exams again and again when preparing for exams, weekly exams and monthly exams in senior three. Those students with learning difficulties have just held their heads high for the first three to five days or three to five weeks, but they have lost confidence because they can't reach their goals and become "silent lambs" again. It is also easy for teachers to lose confidence and patience because of the "no progress" of some students. They failed in the monthly exam and still patiently educated. The second monthly exam is coming again, but the students' grades are still not improving fast, the teachers' confidence is shaken and their patience is tested. The third monthly exam arrived as scheduled, and the result was still the same. The teacher finally said, "It's over, that's it …" Only when we have a clear understanding of the essence of "inspirational" can we have the patience to let students adjust themselves after repeated exams, and we will also accept the reality that "exams are only a small part of school life". The real motivation is not to look at the "results", but to look at the process of students' efforts and the virtue he has cultivated in this process.
There is a story in "Short Story, Great Truth": There is a rich man who wants to train a good son to inherit his father's business, but his son is almost an adult. The rich man always finds it difficult for his son to support the family business he has worked so hard to plan in the future. What bothers him especially is that his son is timid and blushes and even trembles when he sees strangers. Just when the rich man was at a loss, one of his boxing friends offered to try to educate the rich man's children. Friends only ask the rich man one request, and they are not allowed to see children during the three-year training period. Not long after three years, my friend asked the rich man to get his son back. That day, he specially arranged a boxing match for his son to show the results of three years' training. A friend asked the rich man's son to confront the coach. In the competition, the rich man's son was knocked down by his opponent 20 times, but he bravely got up and continued fighting.
After the game, when friends and coaches cheered for the rich man's son, the rich man shook his head in disappointment and kept mumbling, "I was knocked down 20 times, 20 times …" The friend looked at the rich man's expression.
Listening to the rich man's nagging, I suddenly said to the rich man, "I finally understand the reason why you failed in educating your son." Later, my friend and the rich man repeatedly analyzed this amazing "getting up 20 times", and the rich man finally realized the correct way to teach his son. After returning home, under the correct guidance of the rich man, his son soon became an excellent entrepreneur and realized the rich man's wish.
In life, many of us are "rich people". We only see the number of times students fall, but we don't see the number of times students get up. Many students fall down again and again in the exam, but they get up again and again to meet the next exam. ...
