Zhongdong Village, Gaotan Town, Huidong County, is located at the junction of five counties (sea (feng), land (feng), Hui (dong), Zi (Jin) and Wu (Hua). There are Zhaitouao and Majiao, which are naturally narrow and easy to defend but difficult to attack. This is a good place to establish revolutionary base areas.
Gaotan is the seat of the earliest district-level Soviet government in China, and Zhongdong is a village in Gaotan. It complements the revolutionary traditional education base in Baiqiutian, pingshan town, and forms a highlight of red tourism in Huizhou City and even Guangdong Province. Every year, a large number of tourists come to the cave in Gaotan to remember the past and the revolutionary martyrs.

At this point, the Middle East has become the command center of the armed struggle in Dongjiang, so it is called "Red Capital of Dongjiang" and "Jinggangshan, Guangdong".
