The Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) on National Defense Education was passed on April 28th, 20001,and was promulgated on the same day, and shall come into force as of the date of promulgation.

On August 3, 2006, Kloc-0, it was decided to set up a national defense education day, and the third Saturday of September every year was designated as the national defense education day.
