Article 7 of the Regulations on Political Work of China People's Liberation Army clearly stipulates that the fundamental goal of China People's Liberation Army's political work in the new century and new stage is to serve the reform and opening up, build a well-off society in an all-round way, promote socialist modernization, serve the military reform with China characteristics and the revolutionary modernization and regularization of the army, ensure that our army will always be the people's army under the absolute leadership of the party ideologically and politically, ensure the scientific development of national defense and army building, and ensure the effective performance of our army's historical mission in the new century and new stage.

The main contents of ideological and political education: organizing the study of Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, Theory of Three Represents and Scientific Outlook on Development, and persisting in arming officers and men with Socialism with Chinese characteristics Theory. Focusing on strengthening the spiritual pillars of officers and men, we should cultivate the core values of contemporary revolutionary soldiers, such as "loyalty to the party, love for the people, serving the country, dedication to the mission and respect for honor". The party's line, principles and policies, the nature, purpose and fine tradition of the people's army, the history of the party and the army, the spirit of patriotic dedication, the revolutionary outlook on life, respect for cadres, love for soldiers, hard work, the military's historical mission, ideals and beliefs, fighting spirit and socialist concept of honor and disgrace, the education of the legal system, discipline and situation and policy.
