Differences between Chinese and Western School Education
I have some feelings about the differences between Chinese and western education. I have never been abroad, and my understanding of western education is mainly obtained from books and various media. The obvious differences between Chinese and western education in my eyes are as follows:

1. Teaching students in accordance with their aptitude. Although China advocates teaching students in accordance with their aptitude every day, few people understand the true meaning of teaching students in accordance with their aptitude. On the contrary, western education is better in this respect, more suitable for students' development and tapping their potential.

2. Appreciate education. Both China and the West have appreciation education, but in China, appreciation education is vague and general. It is often better for children to praise "you are great", while in the west, it is to tell children where the stick is. China's parents have little patience, so it is not enough to worry.

3. Punishment education. Both China and the West have punishment education. In China, the punishment of children is judged by the eyes of adults. For example, parents often beat and scold their children for breaking things. In the west, parents think there is nothing wrong with their children, but encourage them to do more.

4. Love education. What I learned from books and what I saw with my own eyes is that the love of westerners is better than ours.

Chinese and western education have their own advantages and disadvantages. If we can learn from each other's strengths, it may be a very good education. China's basic education has many advantages. In recent years, foreign countries are also learning from our educational methods.

First, school education.

1, the essential difference between Chinese and western education:

Western education is an attempt education. Let students try to experience first, find difficulties in the experience, then accumulate experience in solving difficulties, and finally draw a conclusion, which is really the result of their own research.

Education in China is an indoctrination education. First, tell the adult experience to students, so that students can operate step by step according to the existing successful experience (not the so-called real learning), and learn and practice under the guidance of experience. Similarly, they can draw their own conclusions, but it is often difficult to jump out of the existing fixed model.

The biggest difference between the two is that western education is people-oriented, starting from human learning instinct and conforming to learning theory, while China education is a kind of "production" education that eliminates mistakes and regards students as products, hoping to produce qualified products on the production line, not defective products. There is no face to the law that "learning will make mistakes", which makes students lack innovative thinking.

2. Look at the differences between western culture and education from the role of teachers in the classroom;

Western education is based on humanism. Cultivate people's practical and analytical abilities from an early age, encourage freedom of thought, and be responsible for their words and deeds. The teacher's role is mainly to guide students and often discuss problems with them like friends. For students' problems, always refer to the library, so that students can find information and judge for themselves, and try not to affect students' independent thinking. It protects the root of human creativity to the greatest extent-freedom and autonomy of thought.

How to make students feel happy in class and let them actively engage in learning is a problem that western teachers often think about. At the same time, the teacher encourages students to speak actively in class and apply what they have learned.

In China, classrooms belong to teachers. The teacher lectured endlessly on the platform. Students listen carefully, take notes, and believe in textbooks and teachers' answers. It is a tendentious indoctrination education. The lack of close communication between students and teachers leads to students' passive acceptance of knowledge, which is firm but not firm.

3. The calculation method of candidates' scores is also a significant difference between Chinese and western culture and education:

In the west, the calculation methods of students' grades are: classroom discipline and attendance account for 15%, homework accounts for 15%, group interactive discussion accounts for 20%, and paper writing and defense accounts for 50%. It is objective and fair to comprehensively evaluate students' comprehensive situation from these aspects. Because the purpose of western teaching is to use, not to score, and the score is only a reference value.

In China, grades are the lifeblood of students, parents and schools, and everything is subject to high marks. Some students with low comprehensive scores and serious partiality were buried instead. The results are mainly in the final exam, mainly in the written test, which is relatively simple and easy to be copied. It is easy to miss college education because of the college entrance examination, which is a lifelong road. High marks and low energy are the greatest sorrow of our people!

4, from the knowledge level, western education is more likely to find genius:

Western education attaches importance to the cultivation of students' creativity; Pay attention to the flexible use of knowledge, pay attention to "wide" and "wide", and educate students from point to area; On the basis of meeting the most basic requirements, western basic education gives students greater freedom of choice. For example, if a student is not interested in physics, chemistry and biology and finds it very difficult, he can only take relatively basic courses, take more courses of interest that he is good at, and choose only one of restoration, chemistry and biology, so that he can graduate from high school and enter a top university, and also have the opportunity to become an "elite".

Education in China attaches importance to the consolidation of basic knowledge, the inculcation and mastery of knowledge, and the "essence" and "depth". Taking mathematics as an example, China education adopts the tactics of asking questions about the sea, and teachers let students practice repeatedly until they are "perfect"; Therefore, education in China is an "elite" education, eliminating those who can't learn advanced knowledge. Education in China requires all subjects of mathematics and physics, and a poor science subject may have a fatal impact on the future of life.

Second, family education.

Social competition is not only a contest between knowledge and intelligence, but also a contest between will, mental state and being a man. Due to the different historical traditions and social and cultural backgrounds, there are great differences between Chinese and western family education concepts. From these differences, we can find many ideas and practices that are worth learning from parents in China.

● Western parents cultivate and exercise their children's self-reliance and independent living ability from an early age. Since childhood, we have paid attention to children's self-exercise, not deliberately designing their future, but paying attention to their free development, and strive to cultivate children into social people who can adapt to various environments and have independent survival ability. Their family education is based on cultivating children's pioneering spirit and becoming an independent person. Let the children repair their own motorcycles and share the work of mowing the grass, painting the house and simple carpentry repair at home. In addition, I have to go out to do odd jobs, push the lawn mower in summer, shovel snow in winter and sweep leaves in autumn. In this subtle process, children gradually grow into citizens with independent viability and social responsibility.

Many parents in China are eager for their children's success, so they go beyond the high requirements of their children's actual level, encourage their children to pull out seedlings to encourage them, and hate iron to produce steel, which is pervasive in their families. In the process of children's growth, in addition to paying more attention to life, parents are most concerned about their children's learning. It seems that good study is everything, but little attention is paid to children's independent living ability, social adaptability, mental health, moral sentiment and civic awareness, and some even ignore it completely. From birth to adulthood, parents prepare almost everything for their children, such as cooking, washing clothes, cleaning, saving money for their children to go to college, go abroad, get married, raise their children and so on. Although our parents want their children to be talented and happy, such family education can neither make them talented nor happy, because social competition is not only a contest between knowledge and intelligence, but also a contest between will, mental state and being a man.

● Western parents pay more attention to the cultivation of children's healthy psychology, so they attach great importance to emotional communication with children and care about their psychological needs. Parents regard happy education as an important educational content. They often discuss problems with their children, and children are willing to discuss things with their parents when they are unhappy. Psychological research shows that healthy psychology is very important for children's success and the shaping of healthy personality.

In China, however, parents' concern for their children is basically focused on their physical needs, and they seldom care about or even ignore their psychological needs, ignoring the cultivation of their healthy psychology and the tempering of their character and will. In this way, to a certain extent, children's psychological endurance is too low to bear the pressure and setbacks in life. Even a trivial matter can make him depressed, decadent, give up on himself, run away from home at will, and even commit suicide and be world-weary.

● Western parents attach importance to "educating children in life" from daily behaviors and emotions, respect others from inner feelings, and pay attention to the cultivation of behaviors and habits in daily life.

However, parents and kindergarten teachers in China are often divorced from the reality of children's psychological development. For example, in kindergarten, they put forward the education of patriotism, revolutionary heroism and great idealism, ignoring basic behavior habits and good interpersonal communication, which are suitable for children's development stage. We have been talking about education step by step, which is not only applicable to intellectual education and knowledge education, but also to moral education in doing things. At present, our children's moral concepts are indifferent and their social development is poor, which is not unrelated to parents' neglect of the most basic "life education" for their children.

● Western parents "encourage innovation" and encourage their children to surpass their predecessors. They believe that children have the same independent research and practical ability as adults, and can create an environment and atmosphere conducive to cultivating children's creativity with a tolerant attitude. They often take a positive attitude towards children's exploration behavior, encourage children to put forward different opinions in life and actively explore problems. Even if parents think that children's behavior has no positive effect, they will not interfere too much, but let children gradually realize their own problems in their own exploration and correct them.

In China, parents are often "content with cloning" and teach their children to stand still in front of their predecessors. Children's exploration activities are mostly negative. They often regard children's own "exploration activities" as "nonsense" and stop them. For example, if an American child dismantles an alarm clock at home, most parents will praise the child. If not, many parents will install alarm clocks with their children, and even encourage them to disassemble and reinstall them. However, if children in China remove the alarm clock at home, even if they can put it back, I'm afraid few dare to tell their parents. Under the strict discipline of parents, children often have creative sparks in generate.

From the above comparison, we can easily see that there are significant differences between Chinese and western family education from macro to micro. What foreign parents pay attention to is what China parents ignore. Western parents teach their children to get up when they fall, to correct themselves when they are wrong, to respect others, to have self-esteem, to exercise wholeheartedly, and to learn according to their own interests. They encourage their children to become dreamers and succeed in their own minds. China's parents, you might as well learn from them.

Third, the influence of social environment.

What China lacks most is responsibility education! Be responsible for your words and deeds, and be responsible for the society and the nation! Education is not only at school, but also at home, in the surrounding environment and in the social atmosphere. Now, it is common for parents, schools and the surrounding environment to shirk their responsibilities:

Parents said: "I send my child to school, and it is the responsibility of the school to educate him well";

The school said: "He played truant because there were too many Internet cafes and karaoke bars around";

The owner of the internet cafe said: "I just opened a shop to earn some money to support my family, and he played truant himself."

Looking at the United States, we can often see adults educating children, and that child is not his child, and adults are not teachers. Why? Because: "Americans regard every child as their own child, and it is the responsibility of every American to educate children"; In Britain, everyone knows the power of every Obama. They always consciously monitor the behavior of young people, just like the police. These two countries give the responsibility of educating the next generation to every citizen, and every citizen is also responsible for the future of the country.
