Wang Ping's Social Comments
Although Wang Ping's remarks are surprising and inexplicable, they are not completely groundless. In a word, she saw the problem, but prescribed the wrong prescription. To put it simply, there are three problems that Committee member Wang Ping saw: one is that the gap between urban and rural areas is widening, leading to the brain drain in rural areas and the decline and loss of traditional culture; Second, the unbearable burden brought by expensive college tuition fees to poor families in rural areas leads to the situation that "one person goes to school and the whole family returns to poverty"; Thirdly, the scarcity and limitation of employment and development opportunities have brought great pressure and difficulties to college graduates from rural areas.

It should be said that all three do exist. After 30 years of reform and opening up, rural life has been greatly improved, but the income gap between urban and rural areas has also expanded from 2.4 times in the early 1980s to 3.6 times today. Under the siphon effect of the huge gap between urban and rural areas, rural students are reluctant to return to their hometowns, and rural talents are scarce, resulting in the symptoms of "hollow villages". As for the high tuition fees and the difficulty for college students to find jobs, that is an old problem.

Ironically, although member Wang Ping saw the problems, he did not put forward any suggestions to eliminate these social problems. Instead, he rationalized these problems, at least assuming that they could not be solved, and asked rural children to give up college and go to towns. This is a completely wrong prescription!

If Wang Ping's suggestion is really adopted, then China will become a "caste system" society: high caste, living in cities and enjoying the fruits of reform and modernization; The lower caste can only live in the countryside for generations and engage in some clumsy and low-paying jobs-isn't this a huge historical retrogression?

Faced with the obvious unfairness and infeasibility in the proposal, member Wang Ping was completely unaware of it. On the contrary, he talked endlessly, which once again highlighted the narrowness, shortsightedness and selfishness of some elites, and made us realize the necessity of NPC and CPPCC reform again. Lin Shuguang, deputy to the National People's Congress, inspector of Guangdong Provincial Health Department and president of Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, said that we should not blame the problems existing in cities and rural areas on the improvement of other people's education level. He said that this kind of thing should be seen separately. After 30 years of reform and opening up, the people's civilization has been greatly improved, and it is normal for students to hope for a broad world after graduation. In recent years, the government has attached great importance to building a new socialist countryside and made a lot of efforts. With the continuity of national policies and the continuous development of economy, the new socialist countryside will be a treasure in the future. Don't be short-sighted, only see the backward side of the countryside, infrastructure construction has kept up, and economic conditions have improved. At that time, it will be a treasure trove of feng shui. After this platform is built, talents will naturally flow to the countryside. We can't deny the role of quality education just because there are some problems at present.
