A number of institutions of higher learning directly under the Ministry of Education are an important part of institutions of higher learning directly under the central government. Among the universities directly under the Ministry of Education, except beijing language and culture university, Institute of International Relations, Central Conservatory of Music, Central Academy of Fine Arts, Central Academy of Drama and National Open University (formerly Central Radio and TV University), the other 70 universities are all former 985 universities and 2 1 1 universities, and now they are "double-class" universities.
The universities listed above are all in the capital Beijing. Among them, the Central Conservatory of Music, the Central Academy of Fine Arts and the Central Academy of Drama are also "first-class discipline construction universities".
There are 7 universities directly under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, including Harbin Institute of Technology, Beihang University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Harbin Engineering University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Nanjing University of Science and Technology. These seven universities are all "heavyweight" universities, and they are all excellent "double-class" universities in science and engineering-the first four universities are all 985 universities with strong strength and top ranking, and the last three are the level in the industry.
