Taiyuan University is a full-time ordinary institution of higher learning sponsored by Taiyuan Municipal People's Government and approved by the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC).
The school, formerly known as Taiyuan University, was founded in 1984, focusing on junior college education. In 20 13, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, it was upgraded to a comprehensive undergraduate college and renamed Taiyuan University.
